It is running too lean on fuel. The cylinder head temperature is too high causing the fuel to vaporize upon entering the combustion chamber during hot restart of the engineif it is a gasoline engine there will be a high engine rpm air/fuel mixture adjustment screw on the carburetor which you can adjust in small increments both clockwise and counterclockwise until the engine achieves its highest rpm. Once that setting is determined adjust the screw counterclockwise until a noticeable rpm drop is apparent while still giving good engine performance and smooth running. That should fix it.

It is near impossible to restart these diesels IMMEDIATELY after stopping UNLESS you press the compression release OR let the pressure bleed off for a time.

On the top of the engine is usually a compression release lever. Press this down and crank the engine for a few seconds then release the lever and the unit should start.

On some units the lever is hard to find. My unit had a panel to remove and I have put a hinge on it to make it easy open. I now always start the unit using the compression release as it is easier on the starter motor.

I changed the head on a 1989 honda civic lx. now it will start up but runs real rough. what do i do now?

Did you triple check that your timing was correct and that none of the pistons where damaged since that is an interference engine, meaning that f the timing belt breaks or in your case the cam broke (other half stopped moving), the piston may have ran into the valve causing damage to the valve and possibly the piston.

Blinking check engine

first thing you need to do is. plug a scanner to it. read the codes
when light is flashing means there is a sevear missfire and needs to be fix asap. or you will damage the catalitic converter.
bad coils, internal engine problems (coolant leaking inside pistons) maybe one of this is your problem

Engine stop running

Depending on the sounds..the least can be Piston Connecting Rod or at most can be crank Shaft

Does not start when hot. difficult to start when cold but runs well at high rev, but if you shut it off it does not restart until about twenty minutes later

Most likely cause of these symptoms on ANY two stroke engine is scoring of the piston / cylinder. It's hard to start when cold, because you have insufficient compression to get enough fuel into the combustion chamber. After numerous pulls (and lots of swearing), there is enough fuel floating around to allow it to start. But as soon as it does, heat causes the piston and rings to start expanding and then you get metal to metal contact with the cylinder wall. This causes much more heat, which causes greater thermal expansion and suddenly the piston seizes in the cylinder and the engine stops. When this happens, the score(s) in the piston / cylinder get a bit worse. Then, when the engine has cooled sufficiently and the piston has shrunk back to it's normal size, the engine might start again.

Specifically to your question, more info is needed.
1. Will it always keep running WELL once started, or does it sometimes stop of its own accord?
2. You say it runs well at high RPM, but do you have another machine to compare it to, or do you just mean that it seems to be working as well as you remember it working before the problems started?

What happens if the timing belt breaks

The engine will stop running.
The 4 cyl turbo and 6 cyl engines are interference engines, which means the valves could be damaged if the cam stops and the pistons keep going.

My 97 gran prix overheated and shut itself. And now won't start. The Atifrz leaked out and engine overheated.

sometimes when an engine gets hot enough it will stop running due to the metal expansion when it is hot.if it cools off it will probably start but don`t run it very long especially without coolant.the thermostat may have seized in the closed position this sometimes happens as when the car is running the temperature flucuates the stat will close and open all the time(won`t close completely).another problem could be a bad head gasket that allowed coolant into the combustion chamber enough that the motor went into what is called hydraulic lock, coolant has filled the combustion chamber enough that the piston won`t move through out its normal travel.i would try changing the thermostat first refill cooling system and let run until the cooling fans have cycled on and off.if it doesn`t overheat and it cranks over when you try to start it then the stat is more than likely the problem.

My car was running just fine all day long and then it just stop running while i was driving they tryed the cam senser and the crank senser but that was not it now they are saying its the cam belt its broke...

If a cam or better known as timming belt breaks in any engine, it will stop right then. re-time engine and install new belt and away you go, it is a bigger process then that, i just simplified it. the person who told you about blowing up engine is refering to weather or not your engine is free-spinning or not. you see as an internal combustion engine runs, pistons go up and down and valves open and close very fast and when belt breaks the valves stop moving and pistons keep moving, if motor is whats called free-spinning the valves and pistons dont touch if your engine is not free-spinning the pistons smack the valves and thats what will damage engine beyond just a timming belt. I do not know if your engine is or is not free-spinning. I would call a couple of enigne machine shops and ask them this question before you spend any money on towing or diagnostics.

How to remove chainsaw clutch

remove statrer cover assy
remove plug, rotate engine until piston @ bdc - insert a thick 6 mm nylon starter rope through plug hole and rotate piston so that it pushes rope in between piston and cylinder top this locks the crankshaft

its called a soft stop

take a punch and hammer and give the clutch 1 or 2 hits in and clockwise direction clutch should loosen

to refit clutch , remove soft stop and rotate engine counter clockwise fit the stop and jamb it again between piston and cyl head then spin on the clutch ( threads are left hand ) use punch and give 1 or 2 hits to tighten again - remove soft stop and refit plug and starter cover assy
clutch should tighten further when engine runs

cheers paul

hope it helps

main stat? what is a main stat?... do you mean thermostat?...that is the thing that controls the compressor to stop if its already cold inside the compartment. or your compressor could have been hot wired already. has anyone repaired your ref before?
