Question about BenQ W100 DLP Projector

1 Answer

My niece squeezed an object into my Benq DLP W100 projector and now it is manfunctioning. I think it would be a simple solution if I could only open the unit. How to do that however. I removed all the screws, but it seems to be stuck in the middle still, but I cannot locate any screw to undo. My product is out of warranty so I would rather do this simple thing myself.

I got the same projector and have had to take it apart a few times, they are not to hard to open

There are 5 (not inc the projector cover screw) screws to remove from the bottom of the projector (A long neck philps screw driver will be needed). Once these are removed The top will be loose apart from catching midle of the front and at the back, This is down to the top being clipped in the middle.

Remove the grey panel round the connectors, one sreew and the 2 plug fixing nuts around the DVI Port. Once these are removed pull the panel away from the projector, pulling from the midle of the panel as its cliped to the side. Once remove lift the top of the projector roateing it around the front

Hope this helps

The shadow could be caused by a dust partical that is trapped. You could try to dislodge it with an air duster or a vacuum with a soft brissel attachment

I've changed my lamp (bulb) but the projector starts up, and then shuts down again. I've looked at the manual, and have tried to find the filter. I can only see vents, no filter. Anything else I can do?

Could possibly be a faulty lamp. Did you change the lamp or just the burner? It could also be a grounding issue with the optocouplers when the lamp is lit.

DLP projector BenQ MP710p

Actually you can turn the projector on and then tilt it in all directions and see if picture shadowing changes. I have experience with this issue on DLP TV'S. IT sounds like a light tunnel problem if you can see partial picture behind shadow. It is fixable but very tedious. But can be done. Do you have a picture of the problem that you could send over? Thanks Jay
