Question about Cameras

No picture display when taking shot. Blank pictures produced when shot taken.

Kodak DX4530 digital camera. No longer shows picture on rear screen when aiming to take a shot. Any shot taken is blank. Displays menu and any pictures taken before the fault occurred, so the actual display is OK. Tried removing batteries for some time, then retrying, with no luck. Any ideas please?

My EasyShare DX4530 has been working fine for about three years, then in the middle of a shoot the LCD screen stopped showing an image. The text is still there when trying to take a picture, but only blackness in place of what the camera should be seeing. The menu screens work fine still. I can take a "picture", but get only blackness as my "image". The camera wasn't jarred or dropped, it was just working one moment and not the next. IS there anyhting that I can do short of a repair that will cost as much as buying another one on Ebay?

Solution:
Ebay has used cameras (DX4530) for about $75.00 with shipping. Kodak's repair service for these cameras is done by mailing in the camera -- and the baseline starting price is about $140.
I'm planning to go to Ebay and buying from a seller with a good track record and reputation.

It appears that pictures are being taken with the lens cap on - when that's not the case. In other words all camera indications are that the picture is "taken", but it is a black square. I'm thinking a...

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help:

I have a dx4530 and when I take pictures, the screen is black. My guess is that there is a battery inside for the shutter and the battery needs to be replaced.

No unfortunantly this is the mechanics of the camera.
DX4530 is no longer repaired by KODAK due to lack of spear parts.

However thay do offer a Trade up option where you can trade your existing camera for a favorable price to a Brand new model.

KODAK eASYSHARE c530 BLACK SCREEN DOES NOT TAKE PICTURE

You may still be able to take pictures with your black screened Kodak camera. This problem occurs in the line of Kodak EasyShare digital camera models.

When you turn on your Kodak EasyShare digital camera, turn off the LiveView function. Take a picture using the small-windowed viewfinder (this is not the LCD screen). Also, try zooming in and out.

After taking a picture, review the picture to see if the picture has been taken. Then turn on LiveView and occasionally the LCD screen should no longer be showing a black screen.
