Back again, this time no display with a Geforce fx5700VE card...

Hi, I posted a question about my old geforce 6600 256mb vid card not being recognized correctly by my computer. It would just give me a black screen on system startup. The solutions were that the card was probably bad. So today I went out and picked up a used but tested working Geforce FX5700VE 256MB video card. Inserted it and hoped for the best. Same thing again, Black screen on system start up. (I also noticed my keyboard didn't load either.) Also I had to remove the card for me to even use the ASUS Kelut onboard video card. I made sure to set the BIOS to AGP/ONBOARD option, (the only other option was PCI) and I spent 2 hours chatting with a COMPAQ technician online to figure out what to do. (the only useful thing he gave me was a link to upgrade the BIOS settings for my ASUS motherboard) Fixya is my last hope before i just take out the ram and maybe even the CPU from this computer and put into another computer thats using an onboard nvidia 6100 video card ( that's much worse than the one i'm trying to install). Any ideas people?!? If the AGP slot is bad... is the only option replacing the whole motherboard? Looks fine externally but internally who knows.

--Press the Ctrl and Alt keys together then either the up or down or right or left arrow key to rotate the screen.
--if it's a GeForce Vid card, open your display settings (settings > advanced), click the Geforce XXXX tab, open 'additional properties', find NVrotate and click the button 'restore defaults' which is 'landscape (0 degree rotation)'.

Autocad 2007 causes PC to freeze, may be graphics card related?

I feel you are right on target with the Video. I was thinking you could back off on video accelerator .
right click open area of the desk top-right click-properties-settings-advance-troubleshoot...
then take your slide about half way back and click apply and ok....
I would try and resteat the vid card and give the drivers another shot, if you can download them from another source such as major geek.com
hope this helps...please leave rating

GeForce 8400 upgrade problem

I would try two things: One pull the GeF 8400 out and boot as you normally did, install the drivers for the 8400. Then reinsert the Vid Card (8400) and when it looks for driver viola... If that fails:
Second if you can get in at all try the old F8 key on the boot up...and see if you can get in using SAFE MODE...and install your drivers from that point. Assuming the second set fails update the video driver using device manager.
That's a great vid card...good luck..leave a rating please.

I am having a problem with my Nvidia Geforce 5500 video card. It started about 4 months back when I started playing World of Warcraft. I would notice that all of a sudden my computer would freeze up and...

Maybe it's a temperature related problem.Youll have to clean the Video Card and CPU heat sink (better with compressed air) :

>Disconect the computer.
>open it up
>carefully take the video card out, watch for screws and plastic lock at the AGP/PCI/PCI express slot.
>spray compressed air to clean the heatsink.
>attemp to take the cpu heatsink out too. if not possible just spray the air to the heatsink inside the computer.
>spray every slot and port with the compressed air
>reinstall vid card and CPU heatsink.
>accomodate al the cables to increase airflow
>check everything properly conected
>close everythinkg

Also I would replace the flat IDE cables with round cables to increase airflow.

If that is not helping, maybe its better to monitor your CPU, RAM and vid card temp.

Same problem with a different card - probably something else.

Games require lots of RAM. I would add as much as possible. I recommend crucial.com. They can automatically examine your PC online, and make suggestions. Cheap, fast, top quality. Been using them for years.
