Initial setting...turn on TV Select input to which the unit is connected.......I cannot figure out how to do that We've managed to do all the connections. When we turn on the new unit we do not know how...

You didn't specify what TV you have so I'm kind of shooting in the dark. Check your TV remote and see if there is a key marked "Input". This would be used to switch from the different inputs into your TV. I don't know which input your DVD is hooked up to. It usually says "Input 1" or "Input 2" near where your DVD cables plug into the TV. Sometimes you can access the inputs by going to channel 2 and then going down 1 or 2 channels. Hope this helps.

Don't know what channel the dvd is suppose to be on. TV is set on 4 and I can't get dvd to change to four.

DVD players don't carry signals to channels. They carry signals to inputs. Check the back of your TV. If your cable coming from the DVD player goes into "video 1" set the tv to video 1, etc.

I have a rca dvd recorder+vcr combo drc8320n i want to set up watching/changing cabletv channels on the dvd remote. i have tried buying universal remotes cheap& expensive but they no longer work on my

With cable input connected to "RF in"on rear of unit make sure vidoe input is set to "Tuner". This will show up on the TV screen. Change channels numerically or using up/down arrow keys on DVR remote. Note there is a slight pause between changing channels. You probably will have to "autoscan" for channel setup/etc. If you say your TV set is old; it probabaly is equiped with coax
connection only/set TV channel to "3" or "4". when yot opt to play vcr/dvd it will override your
cable channel selected. Hope this helps!

Record a digital channel while watching and analog channel

Take a red, white, and yellow AV cable and plug it from the AV out of the cable box to the red, white, and yellow In of the dvd recorder (change cable box to the channel you want to record). Then change your TV to the channel you want to view.

Have fun!

I cant get go video model #r6740 to be able to be connected to my cable box and still work help please

connect the yellow, white, and red cables from your cable box (output) to the (input 1) connector on the dvd recorder. Then connect the yellow, white, and red cables from your dvd recorder (output) to a (input) on your tv (make a note as to which input on the tv you use). then turn on your tv (set your tv by pressing input, line, or channel down from channel 2 until you see the input you connected your dvd recorder to). then power your dvd recorder on (you should see it on your tv screen), then change the input on your dvd recorder to input 1 (or which ever one you connected your cable box to). Then power on your cable box (now you should see your cable programming on your tv, passing through your dvd recorder). Now you should be all set to watch, and record what ever you want, (however most dvd recorders will not record copyrighted materal, their is a signal transmited ny the owner of the movie, or other content.)

Vcr recording

if there is a cable box hooked up to this vcr, the vcr needs to stay on channel 3 to record.the output of the vcr either hooks up to the tv from the coax out , or from one of the other possible outputs such as rca cables [red, white, yellow] to one of the tv's aux/video/line in or source inputs.

Input problem

If you have the original remote, hit video, source, or input button, if it dont have them, then try to change the tv to channel 00 (zero or zerozero), if not then the channels might have to scroll to it, from channel 02 down to make it loop, if it goes to the next highest channel, then you need a remote. It may be set in the menu options to have the video source not saved to your list of saved channels. when you scan the channels, the tv might not look for the A/V source (audio / video), maybe just the RF source. The 3 DVD RCA wires are 1 video and 2 stereo, one stereo for left and one stereo for right. The TV has only 2 , 1 for video and 1 for mono 1 channel sound. This wouldnt have anything to do with why you cant use the DVD player. but try that with the original remote (or a universal remote that is set to your tv set that has either video, input, source or something similar. It is what tells the tv to change from the cable source (RF) and the AV source (the Red White and Yellow plugs, in your TV's case, 2 plugs, one yellow and the other either red or white or something). Dont really know how to explain it much more but hope it helps.

Try the old RCA/GE channels of 90/91 or 92 to get to the inputs. Or try entering channel 00. Let me know if that works.

Changing the inputs

It might depend on the type of input. VCR often use A/V or component cables. if you are using AV (red, white, yellow) make sure they are plugged into the right input. if plugging in to a component (white, red, green, blue, red) make sure the yellow plug goes into the green input. If plugging in component make sure your red wires are not backwards. There should be a white and red together (these are the audio) and a green blue red together (these are video)
