Dear Tjacquet,

The F1 fault code indicates a problem with the Electronic Range Control (ERC) Board. If the fault cannot be cleared, they recommend replacing the ERC and the touchpad......

F1 usually indicated a defect in either the keypad or the electronic control. If the error shows when the keypad is disconnected from control, the problem is usually in the control. If the error ceases with the keypad disconnected, the keypad is usually the cause.
On some models the keypad and electronic control are 1 integral part in which case the whole control assembly usually has to be replaced to correct the problem.

F-1 is a sub-code for a few different issues. A button could be stuck, oven cavity getting too hot, or the control has a memory failure. Any of those three failures would require a new control. But first, what happened to the range when it first failed? If you unplug it and try again, what happens?

The "F1-E1" fault code signifies an EEPROM checksum failure within the electronic oven control. Disconnect power to the range for longer than 30 seconds. Re-apply power and observe the display for longer than a minute. If the failure remains, disconnect power and replace the electronic oven control board.

Flashing F1 and beeping, on a GE JRP15 Electric Single Oven. What does it mean?

This is usually a control board failure, but sometimes can be caused by the keypad. There is a procedure outlined in the tech sheet to determine which it is.

Screen shows F-1 flashing . I had a clock failure previously with a F-7 trouble code . I ordered another from Sears and installed it today . Everything worked OK after the new clock assembly was installed....

We usually see F7 caused by a failure in the keypad (stuck key) and F1 caused by a failure in the control board (clock). This seems opposite to your experience. I would suggest first to power down the oven, unplug the keypad from the control board, power up the oven with the keypad unplugged. Give it some time (may take as much as 30 minutes or so), if no F1 error then problem is likely the keypad. If you still get an F1, then the problem is the control board and you should return it. If you still have trouble post your model number.

F1 ERROR

Hi. This (f-1) code represents a failed oven control board. Have this damaged board replaced asap, if possible. It has failed. Possible logic chip set failure.

Oven timer keeps going off even though we never set the timer. a code of F1 flashes on the display

HI, this is a defective touch pad/control board failure code. follow the test below to confirm the actual part that will need to be replaced.

This simple test will help determine whether the ERC (Electronic Range Control or Clock) or the touch pad is defective when F1 error code is present.

Note: Some models incorporate the touch pad in to the ERC as a single assembly, in which case this test is not necessary. Simply replace the ERC (Clock).

Warning: If you feel in any way uncomfortable performing this test or making this repair, please contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

1. Disconnect power to the range (unplug the range power cord or turn the power off to the range at the circuit breaker). It is very important that the power to the range has been disconnected, so please double check before continuing.
2. Gain access inside the control panel.
3. Disconnect the touch pad (also called keypad or membrane switch) ribbon from the ERC.
4. Make sure there are no lose wires, or anything else that may cause a short when power is turned back on. Assemble the control panel back the way it was.
5. Turn the power back on.
6. Wait for at least one hour to see if the F1 code comes back (usually accompanied by a beeping sound).
7. If F1 comes back, replace the ERC. If it does not, replace the touch pad.
