Question about Hunter Dryers

2 Answers

I have a Hunter ceiling fan in the house I just bought. The pull chain for the speeds never worked; it was stuck on low. I finally took it apart, and the chain was broken at the switch. I replaced the (4 wire) switch exactly as I took it off, and now (and possibly always) high and medium do nothing, low works, and off works. What do I do? The wires which I put back the way I found them are black(L), gray(1), brown(2), green(3).

L — Black 1.— Grey wire 2.— Brown wire 3.— Green Wire I have been told that you will have to get the speed control from Hunter and that a universal fan speed switch will not work. How true this is I do not know.

The fan speed resistor inside the motor has gone bad since it is wired correctly.

I don't know what you mean, longer stem/chain housing to hold light fixture. You should be replacing a two wire switch only.

Ceiling fan stuck on low

in order for the remote control to work properly the fan has to be on its highest speed using the pull chain ... after setting the pull chain in the proper position you can tie up the chain or remove it to prevent others from changing the setting .. the remote will control the speed from then on ..

My hunter remote control ceiling fan doesn't go real fast. the highest speed is what a normal fan would do on medium. is there a fix?

if you have pull chain switches in addition to the remote control, your pull chain switch may be set to Medium, which would make the fan run on a maximum of medium speed.

New hunter fan makes about 5 clicks per revolution at any speed (5 bladed fan), Worse in one direction. No chains, wires in blades. Moving the housing by pushing on the light makes no change. Whats up?

I would pull it apart if necessary (depends on the model) and look for a small piece of packaging material in the air vents on the top of the motor. Good luck.

Fan stuck on LOW speed

It seems to me you have a faulty switch or the internal wiring is wrong. You can access the switch from the bottom of the fanwhere the light kit is connected. the wiring could have gotten mixed up when the light kit was installed.

Fan won't turn on, dont know where switch is

I looked up the owners manual for your fan at the following site: http://www.hunterfan.com/search.aspx?search=20763
Click on the pdf file labeled owner's.This manual indicates there should be a pull chain for turning on and off the fan. Maybe the chain has broken off up inside the fan. You can follow the instructions in this manual to take the fan apart and replace the pull chain.

Hunter ceiling speed.

A fan that old has a muilti speed capacitor. It could be that or the swicth. First thing to do is test the swicth with a voltage tester to see if power is switched to different posts if it does switch it is prob. the cap. Good luck trying to find one.
