First I would like to thank you for taking the time to assist me with this problem.

I note that the model number which we are refering to is in correct the model # is GS5SHGXKS00. I dont know if that will make a difference.

Second when I looked it up http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/assets/p...

I was unable to find a diagram that show me a control board as opposed to a section called control parts. I am not sure how to proceed could you please advice.

    Once again thanks

If the model above your post is correct I believe the Main control board 1058825 or OEM Part 2307037 located behind the thermostat controls has failed. Be right back with links, Sea Breeze

OK that may have stressed two things the part listed above and compressor start relay. Problem is this board controls all functions and may be the only problem. With door open it was trying to keep temperature settings and defrost at same time. If you are handy with test meters and OHM meters I will be happy to show you how to test these things. You only need to let me know. The circuit board in photo is weak to this type of stress. It tells the compressor to come on and stop and same for the defrost system. Please unplug inspect the board on both sides for heat or burn marks and then we need to move down to test the compressor start windings. The board will not always show burn marks and still will be defective. My bet is the board. Let me know, I am here to assist you, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Click Here=> GS5SHGXKS00 Parts Manual Part 6 in photo on page 18 is a defrost timer. Part number 2188375 converts now to part=> 482493 You will find a small hole like number 8 in photo is listed as a plug. Pry plug out with a butter knife and place a flathead screwdriver in hole and turn the timer clockwise slowly until possibly the compressor and fans come on. If yes then replace timer. Hopefully this is the problem and timer stopped working while in defrost. If not we go to next step. Let me know what happens. Thank You, Sea Breeze

Why do freezer coils ice up on my Stainless Steel Whirlpool refrigerator (model GB2SHDXTS)?

On your model your cntrl board has a relay that can stick causing the compressor to always run even when the unit is turned off or in defrost. turn the fridge off, move the temp of the freezer to it's warmest setting and it should display a line in the freezer and fridge temp display. listen to hear if the compressor is running in back of the unit. if it is you need part number: 12868513

Whirlpool top freezer 18c.ft w/ icemaker: freezer works fine. fridge does not cool below 56 degrees. vacuumed dust from bottom, turned entire unit off and restarted but still not working, in back of

i think you have to check to make sure that
the fan inside the freezer is cycling on.
it will be concealed of course but you should
be able to hear it. i replaced one once with
the same symptoms and that fixed fridge
portion of a 2002 or 3 whirlpool. make sure
to listen closely and not mistake it for the
stronger fan motor which operates in
conjunction with and nearby the compressor.

How Do You Repair An lg lfx31925st error code 1f

IF error code. This typically refers to a problem with the ice maker fan. It is recommended to unplug the unit and allow the ice maker compartment to defrost, thaw, and melt any ice buildup. Dry up the excess moisture before plugging the unit in again. This should resolve the matter. If not, post back to me.

Frigidaire refrigerator/freezer side by side--compressor keeps running

Most problems with side by sides frosting up is due to failure of the defrost heater in the bottom of the freezer section behind the panel inside.

Kenmore bottom freezer refrigerator warming up

Hi
There is a definetely leak in the cooling gas.
Firstly... You will need to find from where the gas has leaked. It is usually on the compressor pipes..... but not always.

Secondly you are right about the Water Valve... it needs to be changed.

Berry

Ice Maker quit, everything started to thaw out.

Good day,
Limited information. The ice maker will go into auto lockout if the freezer goes above 14 degrees.
Motors make noise.
There is a fan motor behind the back wall, of the freezer compartment. If the machine is turned on, it should run, and you should be able to hear it.
If not, remove the rear panel and inspect.
The second fan motor, is located in the back rear of the machine, behind the rear cover, it should be running as well.
If both are running O.K. then it is in the compressor itself.
A pricey problem, if it's the compressor. Should be checked by a qualified tech.

P.S. If you feel it is a compressor problem, and the unit is less than 5 years of age, then contact your selling dealer. It would be under warranty.

Thank you for using FixYa

Unit doesn't work when icemaker is on- Kitchen Aid Superba

that is unusual for the ice maker to cause it not to cool, but definitely not unheard of. if the fill tube to the ice maker, or ice maker itself, is leaking down the back of the freezer, behind the evaporator cover, it would form ice around the evaporator fan motor. this would cause the fan not to run, and the temp in the freezer and frige would rise. the ice would melt when it went into defrost, but then build up again. you should remove the rear panel in freezer and see if you see any ice build up around the fan blade, and if so, find where it is coming from. I hope this is the case for you. much cheaper than a compressor or new frige if it is. let me know if you have further questions. good luck, shane.

Control pad reads ER IF

er if means the ice fan is not running. it blows freezing air into the ice maker compartment from the freezer. unplug the refer for 24. these are susceptible to frost or ice forming in the blade of the fan and prevents it from spinning. unplugging it will let it thaw. ice is a big problem with this model.
