Question about Culligan Under Sink Water Filter

1 Answer

How to change the water filter?

How do I change the water filter in my under-the-sink Culligan system? It's a D-40 replacement cartridge. I'm afraid to start, thinking I'll be unable to turn the water supply back on if I fail. Which way, for instance, does the existing cartridge case unscrew?. Since I'm unscrewing it the bottom from a stable top piece, is it clockwise? I think this is how I've messed up in the past.
Thanks guys, Meredith

Meridith just remember this old adage whenever changing filters or unscrewing anything. It's always lefty loosey, righty tight.

I just changed my under sink culligan D30 water filter and there is a leak when I pressed the pressure button. What should I do to resolve this problem?

Well the simplest answer is the gasket isn't seated properly. The standard approach is to remove the cartridge, check for any foreign material (dirt, sand, grit, etc.), rinse with clean water if necessary and reassemble.

Sometimes these cartridge units can be fiddly to get the seals to 'seat' properly so once you're sure that the parts are together nicely then you can use a bit of pressure to tighten them up. They usually need to be fairly tight.

You can get replacement cartridges for all the H series through AC series RO systems on line from several suppliers. I use them and they work just fine.

Run the tank empty of water at least 2x. This should take care of problem. You really should dump 2 tanks of water each time because carbon fines can get in the tank when changing new filters.

You are getting water feeding back to the kitchen faucet from the filter system. A check valve needs to be installed on the line feeding the drinking water system to prevent this. Excess pressure may also be causing these problems. An in-line flow restrictor may alleviate the dripping.

May need replacement of a filter or two of culligan under sink filtetrs. what is cost and can another co. do replacement?

I would not suggest having another company replace the filters. Here is a supplier that has Culligan filters I have used. http://www.uswatersystems.com
The pre and post filters should be replaced every 6 months and the membrane needs to be replaced when the product water drops to 80% TDS reduction (3-7 years). A sediment, carbon block and post carbon will typically be about $40-$50 for all three. A membrane will be $50-$100. I know Culligan is expensive but if you can not do this yourself it is best left to the company that knows the equipment.

A replaced the Culligan 250A filters and now everytime you turn on the water from any faucet in the house you here 2 beeps.

I suggest installing an in-line check valve on the feed line to the Culligan filter and resetting the meter on the filter system. You may be getting water water feeding back out of the filter system when other faucets are run causing the meter alarm.
