Question about 1995-1997 Chevy Suburban Ignition Starter Alarm switch

2 Answers

1996 suburban wont start. The fuel pump is pumping and the filter is not clogged. I removed the fuel lines going to the intake and I am getting fuel to that point. It will run if I poor gas done the intake. There are no blown fueses. Is is the fuel regulator? Fuel injectors? I don't have a chip in the key, so it can't be the security issue.

First you have to measure the fuel pressure with a guage, pre start and cranking, it should stay approx thesame, next check for injector signal to the injectors , use a noid light,

Hi m,y name is Darcy I had the same problem my 97 chev would turn over but not start and I checked and changed the coil, ignition module cap, rotor, fuel filter, checked fuel preasure iut was at 60 psi and it had me stumped then I changed cam position sensor but was not the problem but some times with the cam sensor you have to go through a relearning process if it not a exact match so I went to take it back out and put old one back in and had a friend turn the key to turn distributor because when you remove cap and rotor the metal bracket witch you screw your rotor to has a notch in it witch you have to line up with the cam position sensor to remove it well I told my friend to turn motor over and when he did the distributor was not rotating so I pulled the distributor and the gears on the bottom of the shaft wre stripped off on one side so when it reached that point the distributor stopped turning would have never guessed or found the problem if it wasnt for removing cam sensor so mark your position were your distributor sits and pull it and have a look at gear at bottom of shaft that might be your problem good luck

2002 vw Passat starts but wont stay running keeps stalling out after 5 sec lots of fuel you can hear the pump

Take a look at the in line fuel filter .Follow the main fuel line from the fuel pump back to the engine you will find some kind of a filter between the tank and the intake manifold .
This is vary likely clogged its 13 years old unless you have replaced it at some point .
The biggest problem with a clogged filter is it makes the pump work to hard and ends up blowing the seals that pump the fuel hopefuly this hasn't happened yet and you can spend 10 bucks or so replace the filter and you will be fine.

Hi i have a 1996 chevy astro van wont start

chk in line fuel filter for obstruction, also could be a lot of sediment in the tank clogging up the filter. Hope this helps you resolve your problem.

Car died in front of house, would crank, but not start...fuel pump has been buzzing for a while so i assumed it went out, replaced pump & filter, sadly cant get it to start. checked all fuses, relays...

No pressure at fuel rail either mean a clog in the fuel lines or filter...or a failed or incorrectly installed pump. If you have voltage at the pump when you are cranking the engine over recheck pump and fuel filter. also try applying shop are to the fuel lines when disconnecting at pump and fuel rail to clear any clogs.

If i let my 96 suburban sit for a couple of days it wont start but if i drive it everyday it starts up fine

If it cranks but won't start you might have a fuel pump issue that is intermitent or a plugged fuel filter. You can check this with a pressure gauge at the end of the fuel line.

Car will not start i do not hear any noise from the fuel pump when key is turned on. It will start if i spray staring fluid in the air intake.

I guess you have answered your own question. Start with fuses, then fuel pump relay, in-line fuel filter then the fuel pump proper. If fuel still not available then the pick -up in the fuel tank might be clogged; internal corrosion can be problem in older fuel tanks.

Gmc sub wont start 1996

It sounds like the fuel pump. You may still be able to hear the pump, but it needs to produce a lot of pressure. If it is weak it won't do the job.

1996 Suburban problem starting

ko how much gas ya got ? pop a fuel line real quick or a service port at the engine. is there fuel ?
crack the line at the fuel filter (might as well replace it while yer there) does fuel even make it to the filter ? no ? mm sounds like a come back to me. you need to QC your work remove the fuel pump again (lol) and make sure you have not cracked or broke anything. then make sure all your lines are attached properly with no cracks along the way. make sure the fuel pump sock is clean. good luck
