Question about Dell Vostro 200 PC Desktop

1 Answer

Hardware failure, need source of problem

Well, I was on my computer, a slightly modified Dell Vostro 200, and doing nothing out of the usual, when the screen suddenly flickered, and stayed in the flicker. The speakers were making a monotone, continuous beep. I turned off the computer in hopes of it working again, and in fact, it did not. When I start it up, the fans just sit there and go crazy, and the computer won't load anything. It doesn't even make it to the BIOS. I tried a different hard drive, and that didn't seem to work. I'm just wondering what people's thoughts are as to what this could be. I've heard anything from power supply to hard drive to motherboard. This would be the place to get some good input though.

Thanks,
Chad

How to create hotspot in dell vostro 200 ?

Deepa christopher
Unfortunately, you cannot make the computer a hotspot without a wireless card installed. You could add a wireless card and then search the internet on how to setup the computer as a hotspot with the OS installed on the computer.

Dell Vostro 200 will not connect to internet, what can I do?

check that the lan connection isn't disabled.
go into control panel>network connections.
I would disable it and then re-enable it, that sometimes works. if there is no lan connection showing then you need to download it onto a usb stick from the dell website and install it on the vostro. Product Support Dell US

Dell vostro 200 powers on fan, but have a black screen and cannot run is safe mode or boot up

It sounds like the Video card has suffered a catastrophic failure. Remove & go to a parts store or order from someone like Frys.com or ebay or Tigerdirect.com If you don't know how to use someones computer to look up "How to change the Video Card on a Desktop PC" & you will find a video of how to.

Flashing green light by power connector on Dell vostro 200 mini tower. Also flashing amber light on systemboard. Is this a power supply problem?

From your description this is a motherboard issue, in order to narrow down the problem unhook the hardware one at a time, swap the ram out to make sure it is okay, next if you have a video graphics card plugged into the motherboard remove it, if none of these remedy the situation it is more than likely the motherboard.

My vostro 200 slim tower wont turn on PLZ READ FULL

There could be a hardware problem on the computer if the power button led light is "Orange/ or amber", if you can open the computer, try removing one memory card at a time and see if the power button will change.

4 short beeps on vostro 200 monitor shows black?

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/vos200/en/index.htm
the above link will allow you to download pdf versions or view HTML versions of the Dell manuals for your machine.

4 beeps is RAM read/write failure

if you recently installed new RAM (memory) you should check to be sure that it is compatible. If not, you might just have a loose memory stick.

just remove and re-install memory modules making certain to seat them firmly.

!!!! Very important ..before touching memory.. be sure to discharge any static from your body - by touching anything grounded (I usually leave my tower plugged into a grounded outlet and make sure the rocker switch to the for the power supply(the switch on the back of the computer) is turned off.
