Someone posted this at the end of July 2009, but with no solution provided. I have this same problem: My Panasonic PT44LCX65 will not come on...the power light does normal green flashes as it is warming up but then powers back down to red and eventually shuts off. I discovered during the warm up there is a couple of faint clicking sounds from where the lamp is located. During powerdown, the lamp indicator light flashes once every 5 seconds but is not a solid red light so according to the manual, the lamp does not necessarily need to be replaced.
This problem started while I was watching my TV and out of the blue it powered itself down. From that point on, I have not been able to get it to come back on.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Thanks edzbis, I'll give that a try but not sure how to go about it... Would you happen to have any handy instructions/diagrams? The manual that came with the TV doesn't cover the internal boards so I'll have to take everything apart. Thanks edzbis, I'll give that a try but not sure how to go about it... This problem caused by cold solder connection on the power supply circuit. I've encountered this problem and by resoldering those loose solder on the board, solved the problem.

According to the manual you are not getting enough airflow which would explain the optic block failure. Make sure the TV has lots of space for air around it and is not inside a cabinet that would overheat it.
I think you have a fault in the HT Output, could be a possible failure or short in the LOT, the HT drive transistor, the damper diode, capacitor, or even a zener diode across the +B. If you are familiar with electronics then proceed with the help of a multiimeter and check. Even a failure in the horizontal/ vertical sections can create such a problem. the set shuts off as a protection after switch on and hence you find the five blinks checking for OK status before it can switch on safe. . Do it carefully. good luck .
Instructions should be with new lamp. Press and hold volume down on TV front while pressing PLAY, or SPLIT, or PIP on PAN TV remote aimed at little window on TV front near front panel buttons for 5 seconds. Message will appear on screen saying lamptime reset. Press end to exit.
Hi, thanks anyway. I downloaded the service manual read through most of it and ran through the tests and determined it was the ballast C.B.A. not to mention there was a code flashing which supported this conclusion.
THe lamp part numberis TY-LA1000 and is available for $250 from tritronicsinc.com. Complete installation instructions come with the lamp, including pictures.
Thanks edzbis, I'll give that a try but not sure how to go about it... Would you happen to have any handy instructions/diagrams? The manual that came with the TV doesn't cover the internal boards so I'll have to take everything apart.
