Hi,
It sounds like you haven't followed the last step to the burning procedure. All you need to do once you've completed burning your disc is to Finalize the disc. Read below why you need to finalize as well as the steps to follow in order to finalize the disc.
Hope this helps ;)
How to Finalize Finalizing is writing the TOC (table of contents) on a disc so a CD player can recognize the number of tracks, the total time for each track, and their location on the disc. A recorded disc must be finalized to playback on a standard CD player. Once finalized a CD-R disc can be played on CD players that support CD-R playback. CD-RW discs can only be played on CD players that support CD-RW playback. Consult your CD player owner's manual to confirm supported formats. Finalizing is necessary to: • be able to play a recorded CD-R or CD-RW disc on a CD player • prevent further recording on a disc • avoid erasing tracks on a CD-RW disc • record text information onto a disc you record Notes: • A finalized CD-R disc can never be recorded onto again. • A finalized CD-RW disc can be unfinalized for more recording. • The CDR300 can play back unfinalized CD-R or CD-RW discs. • SYNC REC+FINAL mode automatically finalizes.
Here are the steps in order to Finalize your disk
1 Push Stop. The display shows the number of tracks and their total playing time. 2 Push FINALIZE. FINALIZE is displayed for about 3 seconds.

The playback drawer will not open, continues to flash "reading" until I press "play" and the it reads "clos ".

There should be a small hole on the playback drawer to allow a manual opening of the drawer. The player does not have to be on and preferably should be off when doing the manual eject. Take a paper clip, straighten out one leg, then push it into the hole about 1/4 inch until you hear a click and the drawer should open.

Which make and model of CD RW drives are compatible with the CR500

Hello ferdib, when it comes to [CD-RW, DVDs] just about all are compatible with the type of "Media Player" that you may have, but if you are making "Backup" copy's for your "Data" or {Copying Music or Videos}; than it is "important to know which [Type] of CD-RW or DVD ie. CD-R, CD+R, CD-RW or CD+RW to correct duplicate the information or data. You can access this information by viewing the "Owner,s Manual or User;s Guide" If you are "Replacing" to CD Drive; than the 'most ' important thing to consider or be aware of is (Size / Dimensions) example: 5.25 is the [Standard] size for most CD, CD-R, CD+R or the one you mentioned, {CD RW}. I hope this information is helpful? Thanks fo using FixYa, paul7of9

My problem is ,my cd is not erase.please some help?

  1. Step 1 Insert the CD-RW you want to erase.
  2. Step 2 Open "My Computer."
  3. Step 3 Right-click on the CD drive you have the CD-RW in and choose "Open." This shows any files that are already written to the CD, as well as a space to add files that are to be written.
  4. Step 4 Select "Erase this CD-RW" in the "CD Writing Tasks" pane.
  5. Step 5 Click "Next" on the "Welcome to the CD Writing Wizard" that pops up. This will erase the CD.
  6. MAC OS X
  7. Step 1 Insert the CD-RW you want to erase.
  8. Step 2 Click on "Applications," then "Utilities," then select "Disk Utility."
  9. Step 3 Click on the "Erase" tab.
  10. Step 4 Choose the drive that has the CD-RW you want to erase.
  11. Step 5 Click the "Erase" button.
  • and if this not works then right click on the CD drive and "format" it.
Please rate me if this solution works for you

Thanks......Have a great time

Have disks with old data and need to erase them. I have the Memoex cd-rw and Sony cd-rw disks. I would like to reuse them. I have an Aspire 3680 computer.

Copy all your data into the computer as backup and format the disk with old data, this will completely erase the old data and u can now reuse them whenever you want to from the computer or you can write them into cd through your memoex cd-rw or sony cd-rw. thanks

I don't know how to erase a cd. i try deleting the folders, i am told its read only.

Hi, you can only Erase a CD that is RW. any other cd can't be erased. if its a R cd it can't be erased and those are one time cd's one time write and then it can't be erased and when its full you can't change it, you will need a new disc.

Well at this point you dont have much options try to flash it again but with a new flash file and do it in pure DOS (Not a Dos Box in Windows) you need to boot the system from a Win Win 98 cd or floppy. and then flash from there.

Sony DVD RW AW-Q170A Burning Problem Plzzz.....Help me out: i have two drives, 1) Sony DVD RW AW-Q170A 1.70 Ver 2) Sony DVD/CD-RW Combo RYK4 Ver My "Sony DVD RW...

Check that the writable DVDs you are using are compatible (+/-) with your Sony DVD-RAM.
Go to Windows Explorer and check to see if the Sony drive is visible. It may not be connected or the Jumper switch may be set incorrectly.
Check you have drivers installed, take a look in Hardware manager.
Sometimes, it's a little difficult to copy CDs and DVDs when you have more than one burning suite installed - for some reason, they 'just don't get along'. Try uninstalling any suites other than Nero.
Or it may just be that your Sony CD-RW drive is just that, and your DVD-RW drive is just that. So it wouldn't be possible to write DVDs on the CD-RW and CDs on the DVD-RW? Though I would assume Nero would detect that and use your hard-drive as temporary storage.
In Nero SmartStart, have you selected the CD or DVD tab to correspond to the project you're burning?
