Question about M-Audio DX4 Active Studio Monitors (Pair) Computer Speakers

Balance problem with DX 4

I'm using M-audio DX4 desktop monitors and the sound in the left speaker is considerably louder than that of the right speaker. I've checked the obvious connections and software/hardware points and they are all equal. (both meters and audio) Headphones sound fine and there doesn't seem to be a problem with the speaker cables. In order to get a balanced sound I have to turn the pan knob in software 3/4 of the way to the right.

I've always noticed this problem with my speakers, but now, the left speaker practically ignores the volume knob. That is, it blasts full volume when the knob is all the way down, and can only get louder when the knob is turned.

I have the Studiopro 3's from M-Audio, but my right side volume is lower, then the left.  I have to go into the balance setting on my Mac and boost the right side, which takes away my maximum volume.

Try the speakers on another computer, to see if they work at all. If they do, then the problem is the audio-interface on your computer (or DVD-player, or home-stereo system).

One speaker is MUCH louder than the other

It sound like you have a break in the main wire from the computer sound card to your speaker amp OR the plug is not plug in completely plugged in all the way. Try some other speakers or ear buds / head phones to isolate sound card problem or speaker problem.

M-Audio DX4 Studiophile Monitoring Speakers - Fried!!!

Hi Mr Goodrice
Happy Holidays
You may friied the capacitor of power regulator, or power suppy module. have to get to some place to make the change, or you have to RMS the speakers to US to replace. no other thing can be done. also you need a special conector and transformer to get the right voltage there.
good luck

Connection to Mixer

I am not sure about that brand but on my Roland Speakers, the TRS jack lives inside the XLR. I first missed it. Take an XLR and try to connect. I can't imagine that they would not have XLR especially for studio monitors. Also are your speakers passive or active, that is something that I would seriously at. No amplitude, low signal, no active.
