Hello Hugh, welcome to fixya. I want to make sure I'm clear on the symptom you described. The dishwasher does indeed start a cycle, counts down and complete without ever filling with water ? That is my understanding of your description, let me know if that is accurate. Or do you assume the cycle is running because it "sounds like it" but in fact it could be the drain pump running non-stop ? ( this can happen if the unit leaked and filled the overfill basin thus activates the safety mode/drain pump ). Let me know and we'll go from there. Macmarkus :)

    Hugh,

To check for a leak you'll need to remove the kick plate/toe panel. See if there is any water under there, if so the water may have come from a drain back up or a intermittent stuck drain pump in the cycle. It could also be an actual "leak" from the wash motor etc.

Can you provide the model number specific to your dishwasher i.e. shu3301, shu4301 etc. ( right side of door panel ) ?

I'll look for your relpy here.

If you run just a rinse cycle does it fill with water ?

If you answered "no" does it start up automatically when you press the power button "on" ? (the drain pump I'm referring to here...does it start right away even before selecting anything )

I know this seems like a lot of back and forth, but there are many possibilities which can cause these machines to act up, so trying to diagnose from afar we need to be clear.

How do i fix my washing machine interlock hotpoint hvf 344

The door should have a pin on it that pushes and closes the interlock switch. Check to see that the switch is inadjust ment to trip by turning off the water door open and with a plastic rod or a pencil push thru' the hole in the chasis where the door pin goes through and start the machine. If it starts quickly pull out the pencil, unplug the machine and adjust the switch. Plug it back in. It may continue on with the cycle you just started if not better! If not close the door aand start a short cold wash cycle. If it sounds like it wants to start, turn on the water and let it run thru' the complete cycle.

The machine continually goes through the cycle and then starts from the begining again by filling with water

The controller (big round button in the middle) is stuck. If you can't force it to end the cycle (tap on it, move it thru different positions and start the machine for each), then it must be replaced.

Washing machine does go thru spin cycle or drain water.

If the washer does not spin, take off the rubber bumbers inculding the little washers attached, inside the lid. It lowers the lid, which takes care of the problem. I had the same problem. Not anymore! Trust me, if nothing is wrong with any other part of the washer, this will work.

Kenmore washer series 80, Clothes still soapy

If you are getting no water spray during the rinse cycle that would cause the soapy clothes issue.

Are you getting cold water during the wash/rinse cycles? If you have the machine set to warm/warm you may only be getting hot water while the final spin is calling for cold.

If you have cold water available then the timer is not calling for the water spray. The problem is either in the mixing valve or the timer.

Rinse water fills the washing machine when the spin cycle starts

Check your outlet filter, most likely it is blocked, preventing the water from draining out. Chk your pump too. Before this disconnect from the wall socket; and also check the pipe coming from the tub to the filter. Siphon out the excess water from inside the machine before you open the pipes.
