I have a sprint HTC Hero. The battery ran out last night and I put it on the charger. I turned it back on after letting it charge for a couple of minutes. When it came back on it had reset to the default...

Sorry for you loss, that is very odd. I'm not sure what may have caused it but transferring the address book is easy.
  1. turn on both your old and new phone
  2. on the Hero, go to menu-settings (looks like a gear)-select wireless and networks (or something along these terms) then turn blue tooth on
  3. manage bluetooth settings
  4. on the old phone, get to the bluetooth settings and allow the phone to be found
  5. on the Hero, search for wireless devices. Once the old phone pops up, select it. Keep checking back on the old phone because it's going to keep asking you to accept the connection on both sides.
  6. All the passwords you'll need are just '0000'. You just established a bluetooth connection.
  7. on the old phone, if it dosn't already ask you if you would like to transfer your address book, go to the actual address book, select all and then look through the options until you see something along the lines of 'send via bluetooth'.
  8. The trick with android phones, is that all activity has to be managed, so put your finger on the top of the screen (hero) and slide down. Here, you approve transfers, etc...
hope this helps. If you need help, i havn't really figured out how but you can IM with me for further assistance. please make sure to rate me

When i connect to other phone i cannot receive files from them it always failed please help me

Are you trying to connect via Bluetooth?

Bluetooth have different profiles. The Bluetooth profiles are A2DP (for connecting the phone to a headset with mono sound), AVRCP (for headset with stereo sound and remote control), Dial up networking (for internet connection), and FTP or File Transfer (for sending or receiving files).

Your phone should support FTP or File Transfer. If your phone does not have FTP, it will connect to other phone, but it will fail when you try to transfer any files. You may need to verify it by checking the user's manual or by calling the tech support of your phone.

If your phone does not support FTP, ask the tech support if there's a firmware that will add the FTP profile to your phone.

If your phone supports FTP, but it keeps on failing on receiving a file via Bluetooth, then try to soft reset the phone by removing the battery for 5 mins. If the same problem occurs, then this phone needs to be reprogrammed.

Thank you!

How *** mt bluetooth on my htc hero phone does.t

Bluetooth on the Hero is a very crippled version due to the chip that HTC decided to use. It can only be used to connect a headset and will not do anything else. You cannot transfer files, you cannot sync to your pc with it and you cannot use voice commands.

Note that this is not simply a limitation of the current version of the Android operating system. The Hero simply lacks the hardware to have a full range of Bluetooth services and most of HTC's current generation of phones, even the Windows Mobile ones, have the same limitation.

I am trying to send photos from one phone to my htc hero but it wont connect

I'm assuming your sending the picture by bluetooth. The Hero's software unfortunetly is not capable of recieving pictures by bluetooth. And it can only send pictures using certain programs off of Android Market.

How do i send pics on htc hero

You can only do so via MMS or email.

There is no infra-red transfer and the phone has a very crippled form of Bluetooth due to the chipset fitted which means that the Hero is physically incapable of sending pictures or any other files via Bluetooth. There are no apps, firmware or forthcoming Android updates which can fix this as it is purely a hardware limitation. Bluetooth on the Hero can only be used to pair up with car kits and earpieces, but even then it's totally incapable of Bluetooth voice dialling due to the same near-useless chipset.

The Hero is a superb device, but you've hit on one of the few really annoying flaws in the design of what could have been a real iPhone alternative.

I'm sorry that this isn't what you hoped for, but I hope that you still found my reply to be of some assistance. All I ask in return is that you take a moment to rate my answer.

My htc hero pairs but then says paired but not connected. It cannot then be found so i cant send or receive any thing through bluetooth also the phone dosen't connect wirelessly 2 my livebox (orange...

The Hero has a rather crippled Bluetooth which is one of the reasons I'm sending mine back.

For security, when you set the phone to be discoverable it only stays that way for 90 seconds. This cannot be altered unless someone works out how to bypass it with an app but I understand from HTC that this feature is built in at the firmware level.

Look down at the devices list in the Bluetooth menu and you'll see what's paired with the phone; press menu and you'll have the option to connect.

Bluetooth on this phone cannot be used for file transfers of any kind. It's only there to enable connection of devices like headsets and external keyboards and that's about it. You can't even take a photo and Bluetooth it to another phone. There is no way around this at present.

Not connected with your question, but have you discovered the annoyingly expensive and non-alterable trick which it does when you want to send/forward long SMS messages yet?

Not able to send anythin via bluetooth....!!!

I don't know whether its exactly the solution or not, but I had a similar problem transferring some mp3 files to any cell via bluetooth from my nokia 7210, I tried all combinations of bluetooth settings, but the same message kept appearing-"Sending failed", finally what I did was "Changing the name of the mp3 files" as all those I wanted to send had a bigger name, I cut the name short and there it worked. So, may be in any such case it's advisable to just try this out, it might just work.

How can i transfer my contacts from nokia phone to my HTC Touch

There are few tools to have. A usb cord, your PC has Bluetooth and pair with you N51 via bluetooth. Have the free software, "Nokia PC Suite". Download it from www.nokiausa.com/PCsuite. It's a free download. Once downloaded, restart your computer. (without the phone connected) Connect. It'll give you easy step by step instructions to transfer contacts to the computer. Plus, other multimedia you may have on your device. Very handy!! Then, just use Active Sync or any software you got with your HTC Touch HD. It can sync you contacts from Outlook onto the new phone. This is nice, in case your phone would crash, break, or the worse stolen. Your contacts are all backed up on the PC.
Always take a look at www.htcwiki.com for the best tips & tricks for your HTC device and software updates. A lot of times they will even post known issues and work arounds.
