If I understand this correctly it would go off and back on by itself on eventually stay on until it will not do anything now.

Let me know the model number as this is very helpful but I have some suspicions.

If it is a LCD or newer set made in the last few years there is a common problem many develop;

This type of set uses a "Standby" power supply which is up and running 7/24 and many of these sets they cut corners and use cheap filter caps in this supply.

The only way to tell if this is your problem would be to open the set and follow the power cord to the power supply. You are looking for any of the caps (see attached photo of what they look like) that are puffed up on the top.

The top should be perfectly flat and is silver in color.

I have seen and fixed a lot where several caps failed in the supply--cheap parts and if the problem a fairly inexpensive fix and usually a do it yourself job.

Please get back to me with as much info as you can so I can assist you.

If you are not able to try what I suggested there is really not much hope for you on fixing this. This size set is fairly inexpensive to replace.

Considering the replacement costs and that there is no magic wand that can be waved over the set to fix it, either someone has to open it and look or replace it.

Check with local shops to see what they charge for an estimate in the shop and make your decision based on that and what you want to do.

A set with power problems can be beyond a reasonable cost to fix. Many of these smaller ones there are often no parts available for them.

I am sorry I cannot give you a easy or instant answer to fix it but what I have already suggested is the least expensive way to see what you have.

Please let me know--and ask as many experts here as you like. I am telling the truth and I have been fixing sets for over 30 years.

Hi,

More likely it is Power Supply Board. You need to Open the TV. Make sure it would be Unplugged. You need to Take all the Precautions. Locate the Power Supply Board. Remove the Connectors and Pull out the Board. Once you Pull out the Board, with the Help of Magnifying Glass, locate Cold Solder Joint. If Everything is OK, then you would Locate Bulged / Leaked / Swelled Caps. They would have Ammonia kind of Odor. You need to De-Solder them. You could take the same to Radio Shack / Fry's / Order Online. Once you get the New Caps, Solder them and it is all set.You also need to Check Fuses around that.

Getting a Service Manual for this Model could be tough, but i would be able to ask few vendors, in case problem would not be resolved. Usually, you could easy repair the Power Supply Board, if you could catch Few Bad Caps.

Note - I am Assuming that all the Cords and Connections are Fine.

Let me know,once done.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

    Thanks for your response!!

I wish we had a Better Solution. If there is any Internal Fault like Caps Failure, there is no Reset Button. I understand your concern, However, even if you call any of Technician, they would charge $35 - $75 and still tell you the same Problem.

If you have tools to repair it, i would be glad to Guide you.

Sanyo vizon liquid spilled on back & will not turn on now

You can attempt to recover it by either filling up a tub of white rice and leaving it sit there for a few days to a week, or you can put it near a heater to try and evaporate any remaining liquid. These steps will only work if the spill is very recent. It is possible that an internal circuit has been shorted, or an internal fuse blown. If either of these have occurred you will need to have it serviced by a professional. Contact Sanyo to locate a nearby location.

My 26' sanyo vizon wont turn on and i dont know why.

I have the same tv. Was watching last night when it turned itself off. When I tried turning it back on the switch just made a click noise and nothing happened. After a couple more tries, it didn't even do that.

My friend T.V. it blinks when you turn it on he has a sanyo vizon it's a L.C.D. flat screen

Probably overheated. Inadequate air circulation. Nothing you can do now. If it's less than 1 year old Sanyo might replace it w/ a refurb. I'd contact them. http://us.sanyo.com/
