the model is 9815UXB. I'm not sure how to unplug the oven as it's a wall model, but i'll try flipping the circuit breaker, i guess

did you receive my further replies?

  • dianabe2 May 08, 2010

i am still trying to get further detail on the above error! thanks.

  • dianabe2 May 09, 2010

the model number is 9815XUB. I notice that one rubber stopper at the top left of the oven frame is missing. not sure when that disappeared. but that doesn't seem to have a sensor behind it?

hmmmm...great info. the latch is there though...and is what worked to lock down the door to clean the oven after i started getting this error! it's beginning to sound like i'm going to have to have someone come out :-( i'm a single mom. don't think i could just order the parts and get it fixed. given that it's in the wall at the house that i rent, hopefully landlord has to pay though!?

The oven control is being 'told' that the door is not closed. This can either be a faulty door switch or a bad control. If you can send me the model number I can better advise you which it may be. Thanks!

    Hi,

Thanks for the number. The door switch is part of the latch (first picture) and runs about $40.00, the control (second picture) runs about $175.00. The website on the link at the bottom of this is a good place to order parts. But before doing that you will have to get the latch switch out and test it, also follow the wiring from the latch to the control to see if that is good, it can break down as it ages. The switch can be tested with an ohmmeter and should read 0 ohms when closed and infinite resistance when open.

The website below will have breakdown images that you can view on the left side of the screen to aid in disassembling.

    Hi Diana,

It is a complex repair. Since it is in a rental home I would think the landlord would take care of the charges.

Hello Gillian, thank you for your post!

Let's try reprogramming your wall oven by either unplugging it or flipping the circuit breaker off. It is necessary to wait roughly ten minutes and then turn your wall oven on. Select an option and confirmed that the door is securely latch. If the issue persists, then the temperature may have tripped the internal sensor of your wall oven and needs to be reset. This usually has to be done by a professional since the back panel needs to be taken off and the power reset inside. Also, your wall oven may possibly have a communication problem with the EOC (Electronic Oven Control). Personally, I would recommend contacting a professional for a further evaluation.

Best regards, Chris!

Was cleaning oven and error code F10 appeared what is a error code F10?

hello there"
The "F10" error code caused by the runaway temperature.

The first thing I would check is the resistance across the oven temperature probe (aka oven temperature sensor) terminals at the EOC (electronic oven control) plug.

It suppose to be about 1100 Ohms at the room temperature.

If the resistance at the EOC plug is wrong, then measure the oven temperature probe resistance at the probe plug.

If it's wrong - replace the oven temperature probe. It's better to hardwire it, using a high temperature ceramic wire nuts.

If the readings at the EOC and at the oven temperature probe plug are different - check the wire harness between the oven temperature probe and the EOC.

If there is nothing wrong with the oven temperature probe resistance - replace the EOC.

- The part number for the oven temperature probe is AP3704441

- The part number for the EOC is AP3776874

- The part number for the EOC overlay is AP3778486

Lock would not open after cleaning process has been canceled, oven is still hot

Don't open or try to open the oven door, until it has cooled down completely. The oven heats to a very hot temperature, usually 800 to 900 degrees. The door locks itself once it gets to a certain temperature, and will not allow the door to be opened until it cools below a certain temperature. On some units, this can take hours to cool down enough to unlock. If you try to force it before the cooldown is complete, it usually results in a repair call. If it still will not unlock when it is cool, turn your power to the oven off for 20 minutes, then turn on and reset your oven controls. Sometimes you have to put the oven back into the self-cleaning cycle, and then cancel it immediately to cycle the oven door lock. If it still won't unlock, call a repair company out to service this. When I try to set a temperature, F9 appears. I have tried to turn off power by flipping circuit breaker. The power was off and I set a temp, then turned it off and F9 appeared again with "lock." Any...

The most common cause of a F9 error code is a problem with the door latch circuit. There could be a pinched wire for the circuit causing a short or the door latch motor is defective. Sometimes a problem with the ERC can cause this error to appear. Possible problems can very slightly from manufacturer for this error code but almost all use the F9 error code for the oven door lock.

What is the reset button for GE Profile JTP18?

For me the solution was in the temperature sensor. The Locked light kept flashing and the door locking mechanism kept cycling when the door was shut or if I just held the oven light switch in the closed door position. After replacing the control panel I still had the same problem. Next I turned off the breaker and then took off the wire covers on the back of the oven and disconnected the temperature sensor. I then checked the continuity of the sensor which was fine. With the sensor still unplugged, I turned the breaker back on and the panel said locked but the locking mechanism was not cycling. With power still on to the oven I connected the temperature sensor. It worked. All I had to do was press the clear button on the touch panel and everything was fine. I turned the breaker back off and reassembled the oven. Hope this helps.

Broiling

Usually you need to turn the temperature to broiling (high), some require the door to be open about 2 inches (assuming yours has a detent (hold) there.)

"door lock" light stays on and oven won't work

On mine, I was able to take of the face plate and unscrew the metal locking arm from the motor. Once i wiggled the locking arm away from the locked position I was able to open the door. Once i opened the door, the little motor which controls the locking arm automatically rotated to the unlocked position and cleared teh "locked door" message on the control panel.
