Question about Canon BJC 80 InkJet Printer
One of two issues may be involved. 1) Make sure you have a bi-directional IEEE-1284 parallel printer cable, 6 feet or less long. 2) Make sure that the parallel port is set to ECP mode (the BIOS is accessed by hitting F1 or F2 during boot on many computer, check your manual.) Try a new cable (just in case the cable has just enough damage to prevent the scanner from getting the full bi-directional communication).
I hope this helps.
(the lack of bi-directional communication only disables the scanner, the printer will still work)

Check in the BIOS to see if bi-directional communication is enabled for the parallel port.
