Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is not able to go online through the modem then you will need to call ISP first.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem
then you need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

Linksys router not recognize internet

Make sure your router's WAN port is set to dynamic IP. If the light on the front doesn't glow/blink for the WAN port, try a different cable. If a different cable doesn't work it's probably toast. :( This problem appears to be directly linked to the relationship between the WAN port and the modem. Given that the devices can connect to the router, but not internet, it has to be the WAN. Sometimes if the modem goes out it will send too much voltage through to the router and fry the WAN. Had that happen to my parents router. If the above doesn't "fix ya" then try a different router.

Worst case, you might have to put a wireless card in your PC and bridge the modem (wired connection) to the wireless card and broadcast for your wireless devices. At least until you get a new router.

How get wifi w/router wrt 160n how to connect to router

If you have a wireless router and it is connected to the DSLor cable modem then - To connect to your wireless router, the router needsits wireless settings to be configured with the SSID, encryption key etc., alsothe wireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers cancommunicate with your wireless router and access the Internet via the DSL or cable modem.

Router doesnt connect to internet

This sounds like a problem with your DSL modem, not the router. Try unplugging both devices and wait about 10 seconds. Plug in the modem first and wait about 30 seconds (at this point the Internet light should be on). Now plug in the router and wait another 30 seconds. This problem is normally due to the modem not getting sync. I would try plugging your laptop directly into modem if this doesn't work to see if you then have Internet. If not call your ISP.

My router is still working, but can't connect to the internet

So you've done everything I've suggested already - and yup, it's definitely the router.
As I mentioned before, the DSL modem may well be quite fussy about the MAC address it sees, so if it's been successfully working with your PC, it might need 'refreshing' (normally done with a reboot) to get it to work with the router.
I'm running out of suggestions - would it cause any problems to carry out a factory reset on the Linksys router, and installing the latest firmware? Or even, perhaps try one of the many alternative firmwares that are available (I'm using DD-WRT - http://www.dd-wrt.com) and see if that works any better?
I've carried out all kinds of reconfigurations with my two WRT-54Gs, and they're quite resilient to being played about with... I really hope some of my suggestions help you get it talking to the internet again!

Wrt150n dd-wrt firmware slow loading pages

First off thanks for using fixya.com

Second, I too am a dd-wrt user and found a similar problem when using dd-wrt with my IPCOP. You may want to go into the "Security" section of your dd-wrt and disable any fire walling or access-restrictions. Since you are already running zonealarm. Or remove zonealarm if you plan to use dd-wrt as your firewall.

Running multiple firewalls will slow down your network/Internet traffic.

Hope this helps you out.

WRT54GS DEVICE-NO INTERNET CONNECTIVITY

You didn't specify if you're using DSL or cable internet.

With DSL, keep in mind the software1.gif on the PC is what "dials out" to the ISP with your name / password, and you MUST set the name and password in the router. Otherwise, ONLY the computer that has the software installed (verizon, etc) will be able to connect.

Also, make sure that ONLY the LAN is connected from the router to the modem, and not both the USB and LAN.

If you're using a cable connection, you don't have to do this, however, most newer Linksys routers come with a 'setup' disk, which MUST be used regardless of connection type.

ROUTER CONNECTIVITY

Ok, do a troubleshooting session.
Unplug the router from the internet modem.
Try at first to connect using a Network cable from you PC to one of the LAN sockets.
Can you access http://192.168.1.1  with your web browser?  (the configuration page)
If yes it is possible that the router has the same address as your adsl modem.
change the router address to something 192.168.0.1 instead of 192.168.1.1
Save your changes. Plug your WRT to the adsl modem and try again.

Does the internet work now with a wired connection ?

If the above does not work can you "ping" the machine ?
      ping 192.168.1.1

if none of that works try doing a hard reset... heres a little guide (off the DD-WRT wiki)

Internet connection

Ok I have done it a little different sometimes... try this approach... First connect up the DSL Modem to the PC via Ethernet.. Configure the modem from the PC using the Connect to the Internet Wizard... enter all ya ISP details Logon, Password etc. Once this is going OK.. Disconnect the Modem... and then connect it up to the "Router" using the "Uplink" port and when connect ya Modem to the router... then connect another Ethernet cable from Router to same port on ya PC. Then simply use the network setup Wizard to set up an Internet Connection and connect up via ya router thru ya modem... generally works for me....
