SOURCE: honda harmony self propelled cable snapped at end

Get a replacement cable, part number should be in your user manual...when you get the cable it should have directions on how to replace.

I have a self propelled honda mower model HRR2163TDA - the rear wheels turn intermittently when not loaded

Just just from the sound of it sounds like the transmission but it wouldn't be able to really tell without looking at it

Honda self-propelled 21" mower (HRB216TDA). Will not self-propel. Not sure which part is bad.

If belt is ok, then likely the rear wheel dogs have seized. Review the following PartsTree diagram, what they call ratchet key item 3.
https://www.partstree.com/parts/honda/mowers-walk-behind-lawn-mower/hrb216-tda-honda-walk-behind-mower-made-in-usa-sn-maaa-1000001/rear-wheel .
When the mower is off, you would normally hear the dogs click as you pushed the mower. These get dirty from debris and then rust up and seize (no longer click). Once seized, the transmission drive shaft just spins inside the drive gear. Remove bolt wheel and wheel to access and clean out all the dirt and debris. Inspect inside side of rear wheel and verify wheel gear is in good condition. If all looks good then onto the drive gear. You could try penetrating oil, but if dogs are seized you'll likely need to remove the gear... the key is spring loaded so take not to loose the key and spring. They're small pieces and once they launch they may be lost forever.
I don't remember if the "cover" has to be removed. If it does, there are a lot of small parts, be careful not to loose and keep in correct order. Consult diagram frequently.

I cannot open the bonnet from the lever in the car,it has broken off.any ideas how to open the bonnet otherwise, many thanks

Hello
We had a 2001 ford 1 ton diesel with the same issue. The plastic hand knob had snapped off. fortunetly we were able to grab onto the cable with a pair of vise grips and pull on the cable enough. Needless to say the entire mechanism was replaced right away. See if there is some way that you can grab onto the release cable and give it a good yank
cheers

Oil leaking from the box on the rod that connects

No that should just be your transmission for self propelled. Most likely belt driven off motor, with level connected to cable to select drive. . Probabaly a seal leaking on the driveshaft. You could either try and replace seall or replace transmission

Honda lawn mower wheel drive works, but needs adjustment, how?

Take the covers off the drive, there should be a hollow bolt the cable comes thru, it should have 2 adjustment nuts This lengthens or shorts the cable. There also may be a adjustment on the handle.

Honda Harmony II HRR216TDA drive clutch cable snapped. Need advice on how to access transmission box to change cable. Owner's manual does not address this level of repair and schematic obtained from local...

First put the machine on the side with the muffler facing the floor . Right behind the rear wheel you have a 10mm bolt that you have to remove and look for another 2 10mm bolts holding the plate that you remove the first bolt (one should be at the bottom and the other one on the side) .
Slide that plate out of the machine and now you be able to see the belt that goes to the transmission and also the drive clutch cable.
Hope this help .
