Bought an almost identical Sony Trinitron Television the other day secondhand of course to replace my old model KV25X5L the only differences are the final letter KVE5X5E and the condition of the tv which looks almost brand new to good to be true, I was working from the manual to tune the stations automatically but the picture isnt clear and the numbers only go up to 3 I discovered the tv can be viewed by switching to the video channel but I would prefer not to burn out my video recorder too, is there a way around this or have I bought a dud, I would like to keep things analogue for now. Maybe- If you know where the buttons are located, press them and look for 'Setup' or 'OSD' (on-screen display). You shuld be able to find the off-on setting that way. Also, the best remote I've ever owned (there have been many 'universal') is a Chunghop RM-L988 and the guide for standard TVs contains 17 entries for Sony as well as being a 'learning' remote with a total of 11 different devices. You should always include the complete model number since there were many Trinitron sets and detailed help is not possible without the actual model number.

Hello jorge and welcome to FixYa. With your particular model of television six blinks mean a Horizontal Drive Failure has occurred. If you have any television repair experience you could try checking the jungle for loose or possibly bad soldering. In some case the jungle IC was found to be defective on this model as well. You should also inspect the horizontal drive transformer windings if at all possible. If you are unable to repair this yourself I would personally say to you no it is not worth the cost to repair it as purchasing a new television would probaly be a more prudent decision. sony trinitron is a very old model CRT television and will most likely not have even the red/white/yellow jacks. It will have an antenna jack, and a earphone socket.

These units are not HD sets. So if you want HD sorry to say you will need a different TV. If you can live without the HD these TVs have a great picture thats as close to HD as a regular set gets.

What is the exact model number please?

check your remote controller if it does not function there the problem might be inside the unit ..maybe its horizontal output was shorted or sometimes a loose solder in the board was the problem

The key here is the count of the blinks. I'm assuming that the model number is KV-36FS120. Please post the blink count. It should be a count-pause-count...

The correct box will be supplied for your set through the cable or satellite provider-No problem there, but what do you want with a 5 year old set other than placing bets on what will go out next? A pix tube is not cheap nor good insurance against future problems...accordianman

Is your TV newly purchased ? When you bought that , had you ask the manuals, I do believe every units must have, no matter what brand or model it will be, CE required that act. So ask to your distributor or the store where you bought it unless , it has been passed from one owner to owner, or you bought this from somebody at lower price,,,,perhaps, maybe...but where is the manual?
