If the motor is a replacement one then it has small wires that can be switched or a plug you flip to reverse the direction.

The hood fans seem to be running backwards. how is that possible on an ac motor?

any ac motor can go in reverse. The direction is chosen by the direction of the start winding. reverse the polarity of the start winding where you see the 2 extra crimp connectors where you wired the motor just swap them

Why do we run ceiling fans backwards in winter with a heatpump

That question cannot be answered as stated. What direction is backwards and what is the pitch of the blades.

The theory now mostly dis-proven is you pull the hot air off the cealing in the winter to help warm the home. The opposit is valid in the summer. The amount of energy used is normally more then what is saved in the AC bill.

My condenser fan is running backward

An abrupt cycle of power can cause a motor to run backwards. If you turn the power off again and wait 10 seconds or so (enough for blade to stop spinning) it should run the right way. Put the capacitor back the other way and try again.

The mobile home furnace back drafts when exhaust fans are running.

It almost sounds like the blower motors, have somehow reverse polarity and are running backwards. Strange as it may seem, it's possible. Also, check for and remove any obstruction in the flue pipe.

AC fan running backwards

Check to see if it has some wires for reversing the direction. Some have four wires you can switch around to change the direction. If not make sure the capacitor is connected to the start connection and not the run connection. The wires for reversing the direction should be orange and yellow or purple and yellow and will be shorter than the rest. Hope this helps. Let me know what you find.

Duo-Therm AC does not work

fan motor is possiblely bad but start with the capistors in the run box on the roof remove cover you will see where all the wires go onto a metal or plastic box depending on age of unit remove acess cover peek inside and see if you see a exploded capistor ie: i see smoke comming out of my ac capsitor are easy to change but they can kill you they store a lot of energy and are dangerous if you are not careful with them
