I have been having a problem with my laptop even staying on. It will turn on for a few minutes, then turn off. After that it will continue to come on and off, but the screen doesnt turn on. I dont know how to fix the issue.
You have the usual nVidia graphics chip failure. Call HP or email them, you may qualify under the recall program and get it replaced for free. If they won't replace it, take apart your laptop (service manuals are available on HP's site, with a bit of patience you can do it yourself, or ask someone else) and send your motherboard for reflow. Reflowing the board will cost about $60, it's certainly cheaper than buying a new motherboard that will fail in the same way.
To prolong its life after reflow it is recommended to put a copper shim and thermal paste between the graphics chip and the cooler, instead of the thick and poor quality thermal pad that they put there. In fact that is the main reason why the chips fail - they don't actually break, they detach from the motherboard.
