Question about Black & Decker String Trimmer Cordless 12" 18V
This is model 82332 Black& Decker Yard Trimmer. When in use, the string will break right at the spinning head requiring much more feed reps. There is a metal ferrel that is supposed to prevent this. however, the ferrel is set back from the plastic housing (spinning head). Do to wear in the spinning head, the plastic has formed a v wedge which I believe is cutting the string prematurely. I would say this is a poor design. Is there a remedy for this problem?

I fixed mine, but this thing won't let me post. If I have to be a member just to make a suggestion, my suggestion would be 'let me post my suggestion'. Do you think everyone passing through here is a member? Some of us would rather not sign up, but still have something to contribute. anyone out there to hear this?

i have the same problem. it sounds like your clutch is broken. i went to the hardware store and it seems like a hard piece to find. its unfortunate becuase its the little white plastic piece that should cause on $.99 to replace.

There is a rachet mechanism at the bottom of the spool. make sure the spool is seated fully. Also make sure the string isn't wound too tight or it will stick and not advance.

Is the string spool seated on the rachet correctly? If so and all is well, it is worth noting that these trimmers auto feed fuunction is problematic at best, requiring manually unwinding some line every few minutes as the unit gets older.
