Question about HP Deskjet D2360 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Yellow not printing properly.

When I try to print any colour documents, the yellow seems to have problem printing. When I print a yellow lamborghini for example, it prints fine apart from a purple / voilet shading that appears in certain areas. This problem also affects the blue in documents which seems to print a dark red, almost burgundy.
Any help would be appreciated.

Go to the maintenance section of your printer on your desktop and clean the cartridges

Start - printers or Start - control panel - printers

Also check the level of your ink while you're there

My printer prints out colours different to monitor - i.e., brown prints out as mauve, green as aqua, and yellow as pink. I have replaced all cartridges (and removed all coverings) with genuine Canon...

Sounds like the wrong colours were installed temporarily. It may never clear properly.
Try printing complete pages of one colour until the correct colour arrives.

Too much red

I'm assuming that the colour cartridge is a three in one. Blue, Yellow and Magenta.

When printing a colour document, the printer automatically balances colour mixtures from the three primary colours listed above. Should a print out be too red, its probably because its run out of yellow and/blue.

The best way to check is to print out a test page, you should get a block for each of the colours and black. If one's missing, there's your answer.

My Business Inkjet 2280 will not print yellow properly. Its a brand new ink cartridge and my printing comes out striped. Ive tried cleaning and resetting, what do i do?

Try replacing the yellow Printhead. The printheads are inside the print carriage, usually a purple coloured flap, acessible from the top of the machine, and often confused with ink tanks.

There is a ink tank for each colour, and a seperate printhead for each colour....

Colors are not printing the acutal color

It all depends on the meaning of 'not properly'.

Try creating a document with four different squares, or words, of these colours: yellow, magenta, cyan and black. If all of them print (albeit not with the correct shades) it is probably an ICM driver error. But my guess is that only one of those four colors will print badly, due to a defective color cartridge.
The OKI 5150 makes all perceivable colours using cyan, magenta, yellow and black toners, so if one of these malfunctions, the resulting colors will lack the required shade of, say, yellow, and will appear to be "wrong". The yellow colour itself, of course, would simply disappear (the "yellow" you use might actually be 95% yellow and 5% cyan; then the "yellow" square will be printed as a very light shade of cyan, while the other colors - say, 95% magenta and 5% yellow - will turn out almost exact).

Try with the color test and replace any failing cartridge; if all four (almost) pure colours do print incorrectly, it's unlikely to be a cartridge problem, and we'll have to dig deeper.

The yellow print head is clogged or you are out of yellow ink. You can try to get it flowing with a warm wet paper towel by rubbing and and pressing it into the towel.

No Yellow will print

If you haven't used it for a long time the ink may have dried up. You can try taking out the cartridge and letting it sit on an hot wet rag for a while to unclog the print heads. Try not to touch the copper contacts on the cartridge. If that doesn't work you may be out of yellow ink.

Wrong colour

This could one of a few fairly major problems. The easiest way to track down the fault is start by replacing the consumables - make sure you install them in the correct positions - it is possible on the C1100 to put them in the wrong places!! Change the toners first. Most importantly the magenta and yellow. Print several pages. Use MS Paint or similar to create a page with all four component colours on (cyan, magenta, yellow and black)in large blocks (see image below) and print them full page. Now look at the print and see if any one colour is missing or has reduced density. If you have a spare PCU you should but that in next. Let me know what the print outs look like and we will progress to the next step.
