Is it a top loading machine or a front loading machine?

Posted on May 08, 2010

  • Philip May 08, 2010

If it is a top loading machine you can tip up the machine to get to the pump. I have put together instructions on how to change the coupling which also show how the pump comes off. Here is the link to those instructions.

    http://www.fixya.com/support/r4670549-dr...

If this is a top loading machine the bottom panel has screws at the very bottom, visible from the floor looking straight on. With the screws out the panel pulls down and toward you. The pump is right in front in the middle on those.

How do you take the front cover off the door to replace the ice flapper door

Can you provide the model number to your refrigerator? With the model number provided I can look up the schematic to your unit showing how to remove the front cover off your unit. It basicly snaps off the front panel but I think if I provide you a schematic this will give you alot better visual solution to removeing the front cover. I await your reply Thanks Rick

I'm getting an F02 error on my Whirlpool front loading washing machine. How do I fix?

The F02 error code is for a long drain. (See image below).

Without a model number I am only able to provide you with generic instructions. I have included a set of illustrated instructions you will need to check drain pump filter. (See images below). Once the bottom panel is removed the drain pump filter cover looks like a gas cap. Remove that and then remove any foreign objects. If the drain pump is clear it probably needs to be replaced.

Im trying to remove the motor assy from my washing machine and am stuck it seems to be free but wont come all the way out it is a kenmore 4544190

Most Kenmore washers are made by whirlpool, though I cannot find the model number you gave (most Kenmore model numbers start with "110." then the rest of the model number) That being said, I'll see if I can help:

If indeed it is the whirlpool style, then when the cover of the washing machine is off, you will see on the front of the motor the drain pump. first that has to be taken off, remove the two clips, remove the two hose clamps and then the hoses off the pump, then (it may take some force) remove the pump.

Once the pump is out of the way, press the tab on the wiring harness connector to the motor and remove the connector from the motor.

Next there are two clips that hold the motor on, one on top and one on bottom. You will need to remove the two screws out of the clips and pop them off with a flat tip screwdriver. You'll have to hold the motor at this time. Twist the clips 90 degrees to remove the out of the way. The only thing now that will be holding the motor is the motor coupling and the rubber grommets to cushion the motor. Now you can pull the motor free from the front of the unit.

If this does not sound like the proper type of machine, Please recheck the model number of the washer.

Whirlpool Twin Thin - Water Leak

It sounds like you have a bad pump. If the bottom of the washer is not solid just lean it back and take the pump off. There should be a streak of water stains on the inside of the pump if it is bad.

Washer leaking out water from the bottom

It sounds like you have a leaking pump. The pump is easy to replace:
#1 Use a shop vac and pull all the water out of the drain line. This will keep you from having to clean up about 1 gallon of water off of the floor.
#2 Lift the front of the machine enough for you to get under and see.the pump just inside the front of the washer.
#3 Lift the 2 retaining clips off of the pump. This will allow you to pull the pump off of the motor.
#4 Remove the 2 clamps off of the hoses.
#5 Install the new pump into the hoses, and reinstall the clamps.
#6 With the retaining clips installed into the motor housing, install the pump.
#7 Attach the retaining clips, and set the washer back on the ground.

You have now replaced the washer pump.

Whirlpool LXR94 leaks in front left

Taking the back off any washer rarely helps. Most are accessable from the bottom (you have to flip the machine on its back PLEASE BE CAREFUL, check the pump hoses (normally attached by clips to the motor assembly). As far as calling the dealer, you have to decide if its worth your time and effort.
