I just received my Thunderbolt Magnum Charger that I had ordered from Harbor Freight Tools. I plugged it into my 2012 Nissan Rogue to try it out and it turned on my car's radio. I assumed this was not a...

This charger is a maintenance charger and will not have enough power to charge a dead battery. It is used to trickle charge a battery to keep it charged and to off set any parasitic drain.

The battery does not charge anymore

Usually, the battery life can (quickly) decrease if your GPS is always plugged into a power source (even when not in use).
Like all such (lithium) batteries, to keep the battery healthy, it's better to charge it fully, then use / deplete it fully (while not plugged into a power source) and repeat the charge cycle.
If your battery doesn't charge anymore, you'll just have to use the GPS while it is plugged in. If that is even not possible (because the device actually use the battery to power it, and not the direct current from the charger), you may want to consider replacing the battery. Or, replace your GPS.

The led keeps on blinking and don,t load the battery

Hello there,
If the led light on your gps heeps blinking, then it simply means there is not enough power to start it up for you. Please ensure the battery is fully charged before you try to power it on. Also be sure that the battery is holding a charge by trying it out on another device and charging it there. Ensure also that your charger is also working.
Hope this helps. Goodluck Elect_Comp

Hi left my garmin gps 265 plugged in my car for 2 weeks it doesnt light up anymore whats the problem can yu let me know plz

If your garmin nuvi does not turn on, then you need to carry out some test. First is for you to test the battery by trying it out on another nuvi, to do that, insert the battery in another nuvi, charge it for about 2 hours, then try to power it on. If it comes on, then the battery is alright, but if it does not come on, then, it is obvious that the battery is bad and the solution is for you to replace it with a new one.
Another test is for you to test the charger. Try to use the charger on another gps, if it charges, then it is okay, but if it does not, then the charger is bad and need no be replaced.
After carrying out the test and both the charger and the battery seem to be okay, connect your nuvi to your computer to see if it comes on and charges. If it does not come on, then there is an internal problem or something.

My Magellan Roadmate doesn't work anymore when I plug it into my cigarette lighter. It says the battery is low and it is shutting down. The unit did not come with a battery charger so I am confused about...

there could be a few reasons why this is happening....

there should be a light on the car charger that comes on when you plug it in, if it isnt on when not plugged in to the gps, but while plugged in to the lighter...either the lighter fuse is blown, or the charger is defective.

if the light is on, on the charger and it still wont stay powered on, it probably has a bad usb port (very common on this model) but it could also mean the charger (if not factory) is not compaible with the unit.

another way you can try and charge it (if you determine the chargers at fault) is to hook it up to your computer via the usb cord that should of been supplied with your unit.

HERE is your will show you the differant charging options..there is also updates on that page if you need them

let me know if you need more help.

TomTom will not charge battery, have tried in car and on mains. Indicator light is on but unable to switch on, I have tried to reset but no joy.

1) Even if the battery is not able to keep the charge, it should work ok if it is connected to the charger or the docking station, since any of these two methods provides constant power. Does your GPS work fine if it is connected to a charger cable?

2) I have seen some reports related to the battery not being able to hold the charge, especially with GPS that are older. How old is your GPS?
The procedure for changing the battery is a bit long and involves opening your GPS, removing the internal battery and replacing it. Of course, you'll need to get a new battery first. Also, opening your GPS will void the waranty, but I assume your GPS is old enough to be out of the waranty anyways, but this is your call. If you think you will be comfortable opening the GPS, the detailed steps are in a word document with detailed instructions and pictures that you can download from here (the instructions are too long to post):,g/TomTom-GO-x20.html

Please report back the exact TomTom GPS model you have and I'll tell you where you can get a battery replacemment and how much it will cost.

How do I charge the TomTom XL 330

Hi There!

You Can charge your Tomtom when you drive, or you can charge it with a USB port on your computer.
I don't think they come with a mains charger anymore?

The sound on my Garmin Nuvi 760 does not work anymore, and it will not charge and hold the charge when removed from the car power adapter. I have had it about 10 months.

Please read the article I wrote on this topic.

Also, if your unit will not charge, make sure the charger is ok. Have you tried both car and AC charger? Do not try to charge via the USB as many USB ports can not supply enough current to charge as fast as the wall or car charger.

If your chargers are okay, then I would suspect a defective battery... I have seen this happen before and I have had to replace batteries on several units.

Low battery, wont' charge in car

I pushed the reset button, on the side, during the brief moment that it stays powered up. Now it is staying on with the wall plug.
I'll let that stay on for a while and then try to keep charging it with it turned off.
