Question about SanDisk Sansa c250 (2 GB) MP3 Player (SDMX7-2048)

2 Answers

Sansa c250 I was given my c250 so I don't have the installation cd, and when I plug it into the computer, it's just an unkown device. I can't charge because it was given to me uncharged and since the computer won't recognize it, I can't even turn it on when it's connected to the computer. Help me, what do I do? How on earth can I charge it?

I have tried, I'm telling you, It will not charge. I'm pretty sure the battery isn't dead, because the blue LED lights will either flash and go out, or stay on (dependin on what computer I'm on). I thought that it was charging when the lights stayed on, but it didn't. Also, when the lights stayed on, I could not use my computer, it was frozen. And isn't the player supposed to run off the computer power by default anyway? So shouldn't it turn on and say connected as soon as I plug it in? Initially a battery with a red bar would come up when I turned on, now I get nothing! HELP!

Perhaps it will work if you just connect it as a USB drive. To do this: Connect the USB cord to your computer. Turn on the hold button on the player. Hold down the left button. While holding that button, connect the USB cord into player. It should show up as a drive named Sansa. I do not know if this will help the charging, however.

Get a USB cord and connect it to the computer. It will automatically charge with no software installed on your computer.

Hi i dont have the installation cd for sansa c250. kindly give me the link to download it

The software that came with Sansa C250 only contains the userguide and Rhapsody installation disc. The Player itself is a Plug and Play device. Provided that your computer meets the minimum system requirements.

Below is a link from SanDisk knowledgebase for troubleshooting the Sansa if it is not recognized on a computer:

My Sansa c250 won't charge properly. Initially when I bought it, I used it with a Windows XP PC, no sweat. That computer died and I began charging it with an OSX instead. It worked for a while, but after a...

I had a similar problem. My Sansa c250 would charge, when plugged into the computer. It would read that it was writing but the computer did not recognized that the Sansa c250 was connected. I switched to a different USB port and got the same results. I then realized that the two ports I was using were 1.0 port and idmedeatly when inserted in the 2.0 port it began charging and the computer recongized the Sansa c250. I know this won't solve every charging problem one may have. Changing the battery would be easier in some cases. Especially if they were sold like the AA or AAA.

Sansa

Sansa c200 series – Computer/OS Not Recognizing
Connect the device to the PC in MSC Mode
View/c200: Turn on then press and hold the rewind button while plugging to the PC
If that fails, unplug the Sansa from the computer. Uninstall all the Sansa software in the add/remove programs section of Control Panel. Reinstall the clean version of the software from Sandisk’s website – make sure you get the files for the c200 series. Then replug the Sansa and try again. The root of the problem is that Sansa has one set of drivers and Windows has another. If you plug the mp3 player into the computer before installing the Sansa drivers, the Windows drivers will trump the Sansa’s.
Here is a helpful link from Sandisk on the problem with extra information on Vista operating systems:

Music transferred from internet to my sansa not good

Am not sure which of the 2 actions we did solved the problem...but we installed the CD that came with it (my daughter has a Sansa C260 and her CD was already installed in the computer and we thought I didn't have to install mine). But we resorted on installing mine too in case it would help with the problem, and then we re-loaded all the songs into my Sansa C250 at a slower pace, although I really don't know if the quicker pace did cause the problem. But now my Sansa C250 is now able to record any song correctly.

Computer says no files on device

Open device manager under the Control Panel to view hardware and devices. There should be a tab under portable devices that recognizes the Sansa c250. If their is a yellow exclamation point, then most likely the device has stopped working. Right click on it, and uninstall the device. Unplug your Sansa, wait a couple seconds, then plug it back in. Let it do its thing. If this does not solve your problem, then you should deffinately call the manufacturer.
