Question about Dell XPS 400 Dual Core 2.8Ghz, 512MB, 160G, 128M ATI, DVDRW & DVDXPS400 PC Desktop
Black screen says driver 5 not found press f1 to continue f5 for something else then if I hit f1 to continue it says auto adjusting then nothing just a black screen and doesn't even get to the welcome pg where you can log in, any solutions would be appreciated
I would try booting in to safe mode by tapping F8 key on reboot and see does it come up. If it does means bad driver and by what it sounds like it might be display driver. When and if you choose safe mode do safe mode with networking so you can go online and update drivers. Hope this helps.

Tips for a great answer:
Aug 28, 2011 | Dell Inspiron 530 Desktop Computer
Feb 19, 2011 | Dell Computers & Internet
COPY D:\i386\ntldr C:\ (Considering that D is your CD Rom Drive)
COPY D:\i386\ntdetect C:\ (a file that may also be missing)
Then rebuild the boot configuration boot.ini file by
Attrib -H -R -S C:\boot.ini (if not found skip the next line)
