Need to UNinstall an ASK toolbar which I cannot do with my regula

Last night, I need help with my Corel Paint Program and I found a site thru a search which offered "free" help. I turned out to be a scam whch wanted to sell me a program for the operation. I UNinstalled it and was left with the ask toolbar AND OPENING PAGE instead of my usual "Google" home page. Control panes Add/remove worked fine on the program itself but the Ask toolbar IS NOT listed there or in any of my programs anywhere.
Please help!

I really do appreciate your offer to help "dgsturt" but I have tried those things to no avail. When I right click the "Ask" toolbar, it is not even checked and all the others are - -- so that doesn't work. I've tried the usual "Start, Control Panel, uninstalal/install, and the "Ask toolbar" is not listed there??? I've even gone into "View, Internet options, settings, deselected "do not allow changes to my toolbar", and there I did find "Ask" but it was NOT selected and I had no opetion to return my selection to my usual "Google". Any other suggestions == I totally appreciat your help.

    Ok well it's loaded somewhere.

    1) Run a search for "ASK" see if you can find the programme on your hard drive. Make a note.

    2) Go to filehippo.com, download and install Ccleaner. Once installed it has a "Tools" option. Click on Startup, and delete ASK from the startup list. While you're there, click on uninstall see if Ccleaner can find it to remove. Assuming no. Re-boot.

    3) Search should have found the ASK programme, delete it. If Search didn't find it, Click on My computer - C:Drive - Programmes and look for a folder labelled ASK. Delete it.

    4) To recover your Google homepage You'll first need the GOOGLE URL: - http://www.google.co.uk/ make a note or copy to mouse. Open your explorer page, click on tools, select internet options - Paste the URL into the homepage box, remove any others and click on USE Current. Save and exit...............Good Luck.

Still no success? then you need a more potent uninstaller, but this one is not for free. You can use it for 30 days, but after that you have to uninstall it or pay for it. You can get it here:

I hope the uninstall worked, with at least one of the options. If not you need more specific help but will be different for every situation.

When the ASK toolbar is removed, your computer is still not as it used to be. You now have to setup your browser with the search engine you like the most.

In IE9 on the top right is the gear wheel. Click there and select manage add-on / search engines
Select your favourite search engine and click on select as standard. When you want you can remove the other ones with Remove.

In Firefox also select manage search engine on the left of the menu.
Select the engine you want and click on the up button till the line is on top.

To make it your favourite or startup home page in;

IE9 in the menu Extra you find the gear wheel. Click there. Then on the tab General click on Start page and type in your favourite.

Firefox On the top left on the orange button Firefox / Options click on general and in the box start page type your favourite.

1.To uninstall Ask Toolbar program from Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7, click the "Start" button, then click on the "Control Panel" menu option.
If you are using Windows 8, simply drag your mouse pointer to the right edge of the screen, select Search from the list and search for "control panel" .Or you can right-click on a bottom left hot corner (formerly known as the Start button) and select Control Panel from there.
2.When the "Control Panel" window opens click on the "Uninstall a program" option under "Programs" category. This option is shown by the arrow in the image below. If you are using the "Classic View" of the Control Panel, then you would double-click on the "Programs and Features" icon instead.
3.When the "Programs and Features" or the "Uninstall a Program" screen is displayed, scroll through the list of currently installed programs and uninstall Ask Toolbar, Ask Toolbar Updater, Ask Updater and any other recently installed or unknown programs from your computer. That should uninstall Ask toolbar from your computer. You'll also need to remove extensions from your browsers. On some computers these programs might be renamed or missing, search for any program developed by Ask or unknown applications, and uninstall them from your computer.

Reset your default search engine and home page from Ask.com to their default.
To reset your search engine and homepage to their defaults, we will use the SearchResetextension. This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up and then resets your search preferences and home page to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.
You can download Search Reset from the below link, and then we will just need to install it to revert Firefox to its default settings.
