How to move feed dogs under needle for singer 514

First, make sure the feed dogs are in the up position and NOT dropped for darning.

Second, check that the stitch length is set to at least a 2 or 2.5 to make sure the feed dogs will actually move the fabric a noticeable distance. The closer the stitch length is set to zero, the closer together the stitches will be until it will sew only in one place because the fabric will no longer advance.

The feed dogs need to move. They should actually rise, move toward the back of the machine, drop down, move forward to the position to again rise--this creates one stitch. If the fabric is not moving, then it is possible that your machine has not been cleaned and oiled recently. Old oil will dry and cause the moving parts to seize.

It was working now it seems to be frozen the needle part wont move

How do I fix the mechanism for the needle. Needle barely moves and will not go down through fabric

If it is a mechanical machine, it most likely needs a thorough cleaning and oiling. If not oiled frequently, the old oil turns to a goo or varnish and prevents the parts from moving freely. Do not force the motor to try to run your machine as it will most likely damage the motor.

Might be best to take it for a standard service.

If you have the patience and time, you can try fixing it yourself:

In the future, be sure to clean and oil regularly (every 40 hours of sewing, every 6 months if not in use). Use ONLY fresh good quality sewing machine oil, applying 1-2 drops of oil each spot. Consult the owner's manual for instructions.

I have a homemaker FY2300 sewing machine and it has seized it will only move enough for me to thread it but will not move after that. HELP

As complicated as they look, they are actually fairly simple in their operation. I know parts can wear out, but that is usually indicated by a gradual decrease in performance and an increase in noise. If a machine has seized it is usually for one of two reasons. It has jammed with dust and fibres from material or the timing is all wrong.
Open up and have a look at the inside of the machine and remove any bits, dust, threads etc that are accessible. It will benefit from oiling as well, but unless it is rusted it should move fairly freely by hand turning the wheel on the side. If it does move now check that the needle is going up and down and doesn't contact anything whilst turning the hand wheel. The needle tip will drop below into the shuttle but shouldn't touch anything and should come out again before the mechanism moves to block the needles travel. Do this for a few cycles and if it operates freely then put a drop of oil in the lubrication points.
If it is totally seized or the needle hits something then maybe a professional can help with a service.

Cannot turn hand wheel or sew.

Have you checked the bobbin compartment to make sure there isn't a thread-jam there? It can get so tightly snarled that even the handwheel won't turn.

Needle wont move on its own

First check to see if the machine is in bobbin winding mode. If you are sure it is not in winding mode.... check your motor belt. It's probably worn out or mis-adjusted.
