BenQ PE8700 DVI problem

I have had an ongoing problem with my BenQ PE 8700 projector. I use a DVI connection on the projector to connect to my HD Cable box. It will work for a while but eventually stops working. I will get the message DVI not supported in the lower right hand corner of the screen. I can reset the cable box and alter the setup in the cable box to work on the DVI setting then the picture will come on the screen for a couple of seconds then go off. I use the component connections for my dvd player so I don't want to switch it back and forth just to get it to work.

I have a similar problem with my BenQ PE8700. I also have my cable box coming in through the DVI connection, and my DVD/other sources through the component inputs. When I first turn on the cable box, the picture will show for a couple of seconds and then go black. If I turn the cable box off and then back on, the same thing will happen. I have found that if I unplug the DVI cable at the projector and then plug it back in a few times, the picture will eventually stay on. Needless to say, this is very frustrating. I would like to know if there is a firmware or other update available to fix this problem.

Hi guys

All that needs to be done is a firmware upgrade.

This can however only be done by a BenQ Approved Service Provider because if the person doing this makes a balls-up the Projector will be dead as a doornail.

How connect to BenQ mp620p- xBox360 ? Thanks good luck

If you've got the version with a DVI input, use a HDMI to DVI cable. That'll take care of picture but not sound. You need to hook up an audio cable that finishes in a 3.5mm stereo jack if you want to use the Benq's speaker.

If you have the older version with just a VGA input then buy an Xbox 360 VGA cable. You'll also need an audio adapter; 2x phono/RCA sockets going to 3.5mm stereo jack.

Looking at purchasing a used HP MP3135. In purchasing a HDMI female to M1-DA male adaptor, will this allow me to connect my laptop etc via HDMI cable? We also would like to connect a Wii and HD TV, how do...

HP available M1 to VGA (included )
Optional M1 to DVI (available on HP accesories)
To connect laptop via HDMI to Projector you need a HDMI to DVI adapter + Cable M1 to DVI (you get ONLY Video on DVI Output)
To connect Wii to projector you need a M1 to Composite

look the manuals on page 20-30

Won't broadcast in hi-def with component cables

I have a BENQ PE8700 also. Charter Cable just replaced my Hi Def Cable Box and now I only get the non hi-def channels. I get the sound on the Hi-Def channels only. My projector is hooked up with the DVI Cable. Did you ever find out why you were not getting HI DEF?

Connect the hdmi out put of a bush hd set top box

its telling you that you cant use the format that your source is set up for .. like 1080P wont play on a monitor that wont support that ..also hdmi requires an exchange of information between units before it will allow 1080 resolution (thats to prevent recording of high resolution material) the adapter may block that exchange .. if you set the source to 720 or less resolution then its likely to start working .. problem is .. if you cant see it how do you set it .. if your remote has an obvious button for that then you can just try selecting different modes and wait 10 seconds to see if it works .. if its not obvious then perhaps you can temporarily use svideo or composite in order to set up the source machine ..

BenQ pe8700 projector ir sensor replace or repair

unless you dropped it, there is no damage to the sensor. it might just be dirty. blow the dust out of the projector with canned air. if there is physical damage, just replace it. if you're sure the remote works but none of the sensors do, it's a main board problem.

Why won't the HD channels come in on my lg flat screen monitor? We changed the cable box and everything. Any suggestions?

The first thing you need is the HD tuner. Since you stated that you changed the cable box I will assume that means it's HD ready.
So you have HD signal coming in to the cable box box by-way of a coaxial cable. Now you need to get that HD signal to the monitor. For this connection the standard coaxial cable normally used between the TV and cable box will not do the job. How many connection options you have depends entirely on the what is available on the monitor.
Normally there are three choices. Your monitor could have anyone of these, a combination of them or none if it's not HD ready.
They are Component cable, HDMI and DVI.
Component is a combination of three RCA type (red, blue, and green), connectors. Simply connect the "Component Out" from the cable box to the "Component In" on the monitor.
HDMI cable looks similar to a computer monitor cable but bigger. Same goes for this one. Connect the "HDMI Out" from the cable box to the "HDMI In" on the monitor.
An indirect connection can also be made if your monitor has a "DVI In" jack by using a cable that will allow you to come from the "Out" connection of either the HDMI or Component on the cable box to the "DVI In" on the monitor.
If you are unclear about anything or you have any other questions please just ask and I'll try and help out.
