You may have a sticky float valve---you may me able to get it without removing the whole carb. try unscrewing the bowl from the bottom of the carb. the float valve will be hanging down from the middle. carefully remove it and clean it and the hole it slide in.

Trimmer won't prime to start

Look inside the tank. Some units have a stone inside that blocks the fuel line when it is tipped a certain way. Might be what's happening here.

I haven't been able to get my trimmer to start since the first day I got it. I think it is not drawing fuel when I prime it. Things to check, or what other causes it might be.

Start by spraying some starter fluid into the carburator. If it starts and dies after few seconds then you most likely have a fuel problem.

Press the primer bulb about 6 times. There should be gasoline flowing through both gas lines the intake and overflow. If not check that the filter ( attached to the end of the intake line ) inside the gas tank is not plugged. It can be removed for testing purposes. Rplacement gas lines and filters are available in places like Sears, Home Depot, Lowes etc.

If the unit does not start with the starting fluid you may have an ignition problem.
Remove and clean the spark plug. Attach the spark plug wire to the plug and hold the threaded part of the plug againt the metal head of the engine. While closely wathing the gap have someone pull the rope and turn the engine over. You should see a small spark jump the gap of the plug.
If not start by replacing the plug ( cheapest, easiest first).
If the unit has gas andspark nd still does not start remove the carburator and disassemble it.
Soak the body in fresh gas for about 10 minutes and blow out the port with small engine carb cleaner ( also avail at the prementioned stores).
Those small carbs don't take much to become clogged.

Maybe the engine is running with the fuel from the primer bulb (about few seconds), the carburator is not working and need to be removed checked and cleaned, the most common fail is a jet clogged.

Cub cadet lawn tractor, ran out of gas. After

I would bet that the throttle shaft is worn and has a lot of play in it on the carburator. This is very common. The best bet is to have the carburator worked on by a small engine repair shop, or get a replacement one.

Snapper zero turn ran out gas now wont start

Try putting a little gas in the carburator and make sure the choke is on full then try starting it. You may have to try this a couple of times in order for the gas to get primed.

If the bulb is good and it still won't prime, then you have either one more tube (there are usually 3) to replace, OR, the gas pickup in the tank has a plugged filter or a plugged line. I'd check it first.
