You broke linkage inside on rockshaft when you pulled off the right lift arm. Sorry. Pull top hitch off and repair. There is a procedure to replace these seals safely without moving rockshaft side to side.
Mine did the same thing. Below the front of the seat is a knob sticking toward the front of the tractor that is angled upward that controls the fall rate of the three point hitch. After searching the internet for a while I found what this knob is for and went out and turned it until the three point fell down. The knob is perfectly placed to bump with my foot as I get off the tractor (I have large feet and bump a lot of controls getting on and off) and I guess I had bumped it closed over time. Dave
I think a 140 is a IH Cub . I don't believe they had available a 3 point hitch. Please register at www.farmallcub.com and there are people there that have had a 140 apart and back together many times. IF there was a 3 point hitch available they will know about it. GOOD LUCK Mike
The three point hitch raises with hydraulic pressure. When the hitch will not raise the first thing to check is the hydraulic fluid level. If it is low add hydraulic fluid to the proper level as stated in the owner manual.
