When you say your desktop has a black screen does that mean after your computer boots up its black or even right when you turn it on you do not even see the the Bios screen.
I know you wrote desktop but are you just using that as a term for a a computer so Is is a laptop or desktop?
There are three possibilities, 1) Your screen died 2) Your graphics card died ( if its a desktop it usually an easy fix, if its a laptop most times its unfix-able ) 3) if its a laptop can you see a very faint image? if so there is something called an inverter that can be replaced to fix that issue
The screen polarization has gone bad. it is not worth the trouble. if it is laptop take it to a tchnician to be replaced. They are usually extremlely pricy and cost almost as much as replacing the laptop and will probably be an upgrade as well. if it is a laptop you can always use the external monitor port and use a different monitor.
Hie there i have installed and reinstall Win 7 Ultimate on Multiple Compaq 610's without any problem. i once encountered a prob like this one but was lazy so i removed my Hdd and formatted it elsewhere and Walaa my prob was gone. i didn't have to upgrade or downgrade my bios and am still using the same laptop 2day. Just make sure you DVD rom aint damaged. good luck
you said that you want a display card. first no extra card can be added to the laptop. that is not possible. and second if your lcd is not working then the inverter card might be gone. it is a small card which converts dc to high voltage ac so that the screen can be back lit and run. if this has gone it can be replaced and you can again restore ur screen.
you can check the working of the graphic card of you laptop by connecting external monitor. if that also not working then you need to replace ur motherboard. these are the solutions.
so in order to make sure your motherboard is ok. just connect an external monitor. and you cannot upgrade your graphic card as it is final in laptop.no upgrades for that.
you should be able to rotate it back by going in the display adapter and rotate the screen back...before you go in there try holding the ctrl key and push the down arrow key and see if that will change it back..you can email me at email@example.com if you need more help.
This may not be damage, it could be the wrong driver.
Go to the control panel, look at the device menu to see if the display is possibly marked as not working correctly.
Then look at the display settings to see if new driver alternatives have appeared.
Incorrect drivers can damage a display; I've seen it happen (unfortunately).
