Question about Vizio GV42L 42 in. LCD Television
Some channels do not display an HD signal 100% of the time. Older shows and certain commercials may not have been shot using HD equipment. You may therefore either have a black border all of the way around your image, or you may find you have to change the Zoom setting before the image looks proper to your eyes.\
On the other hand, if the TV is on the same channel you were watching before your power outage and you are no longer able to adjust the image the way you did before the outage, then something inside the TV was damaged by the power outage. Quite often, just before a power outage your electronic equipment may suffer a power spike. This can damage many of the electronic components inside the TV. It would be impossible to identify which part or parts have been damaged without being able to take some measurements.
Before you have a repair tech take a look at your set you can try and reset all of your setting back to factory default to see if that will also reset your issue. Bring up your TV's menu and highlight the icon that looks like a gear. Then move your cursor to the last choice on that screen that is tiled "Reset All Settings", and then press the right arrow button. This will reset all of your display setting back to the level they were set at the factory. If that doesn't fix the zoom issue you can also try and unplug the TV and leave it that way for 1/2 hour. That may also reset the picture back to normal. If none of these attempts gives you back the picture you had previous to the outage then you definitely have a part or parts that were damaged.
