I can't get my dell inspiron to power on. I will charge the battery using the wall charger but will not come on. What can I try?

Try this if will help.

Remove battery and unplug the ac adapter from laptop.

Without the power sources hold down the power button for 10 seconds.

Check the ac adapter from wall power socket if ac adapter LED is ON.

Plug back in the ac adapter to laptop then check the LED from the ac adapter if it stayed on.

If ac adapter LED turned off right after you plug in the ac adapter to laptop then you need to replace the ac adapter, motherboard and power daughter board.

Hold down the D key then Press Power Button once. Check if color display will appear in the screen.

if the ac adapter stays on you and still no power indicator from the laptop you need to replace motherboard and power daughter board.

Hope this helps.

I have plugged in my new laptop correctly but when I tried to switch it on the laptop does not respond. Is my laptop broken or am I missing something?

Hello,

Thank you using fixya.

Here are the things that you need to do:

1. Use a different power outlet. Maybe the outlet is bad.
2. Check the ac adapter. check if the light is lit. The light is a power indicator. If there's no power on it, then, you have to make sure that it's not broken or it's connected properly to the power outlet.
3. Check for any power indicators in the laptop. Like lights lit or the charge indicator. If there's none, then, the laptop is not receiving any power. It might be caused by a defective battery.
4. Remove the battery. Plug in the laptop to the ac adapter without the battery on it. Check for power indicators. Press the power button.

Let me know if there's any development. Leave me a message in this post.

My laptop wont start even though the light indicator in the charger is on

You may first try performing the steps mentioned below:
1) Connect the AC adapter into a known working AC outlet and to the DC jack on the notebook.
2) Verify the correct AC adapter is being used, and not a third-party replacement AC adapter.
3) Do not connect the AC adapter to a surge protector or extension cord.
4) If the DC jack on the computer is loose or damaged, the computer may require service.
5) Some AC adapters have a POWER LED indicator and can be confirmed as receiving power by ensuring the LED is lit. If the AC adapter is damaged, or the LED is not lit or continuously flickers when plugged into a working AC outlet, the adapter must be replaced.
6) Attempt to turn on the computer normally.
7) Press and hold the Power Switch for 5 seconds.
8) Remove the battery.
9) Disconnect the AC power adapter.
10) Press and hold the Power Switch for 5 seconds.
11) Connect the AC power adapter.
12) Attempt to turn on the computer.
NOTE: If the computer turns on without the battery, connect and charge the battery for 24 hours.
13) Disconnect all external devices that are connected to the computer.
14) Attempt to turn on the computer.
15) Remove any additional Random Access Memory (RAM) that was installed in the computer.
16) Attempt to turn on the computer.
17) The troubleshooting steps listed above should resolve your issue.
If you have completed all of the steps and the issue is not resolved, service may be required.

Same Weird Problem,

Is the laptop display a windows or black out

Black out?
Please stop the laptop by pressing the power button until it stop.
remove the battery
remove the memory and then after 15 minute insert back the memory and install the battery.

If the system display windows, and the problem is always start when plugging the ac power. maybe the battery of the laptop is damage.

Please try go to bios setup and then at the power option, find the restore the "last state" something like that and the set it to "off: option.

System not starting

If possible, try to plug an external monitor to the laptop and see if it displays anything. That will indicate a video problem on your laptop.
