Fills with water then does nothing. won't agitate or spin. I checked coupler and it is fine.

The problem is with the lid switch. Disconnect both hot and cold water line from the water inlet valve. Mark the hot and cold so you don't get them mixed up. There are 2 philips head screws at the back of the machine, holding down the console to the cabinet. One in each rear corner. Slide the console forward slightly and tilt back. There are 2 metal clips that hold the cabinet and top to the back panel. Use a screwdriver and pry both clips up. ( pay attention on how to put the clips back). Disconnect the harness to the lid switch. Now stand in front of the cabinet and tilt forward towards you while pulling forward. Cabinet should slide forward. Once the cabinet has been separated fro the back panel, lift the lid up. On the right side of the lid you will see 2 screws. remove screws. (theses are the screws that secure the lid switch to the top). Now go to the back of the cabinet at the opening and look in the corner where you just removed the 2 screws, You will see a green ground wire screwed to the cabinet. Should be a 5/16 screw. (not 100% sure). Remove screw. there are 2 small clips holding the tubing for the wire harness in place. Popping both clips out should release the lid switch. Now disconnect harness holder from the top of the cabinet by pressing in the plastic clips at the side. Pay attention to the direction of the plug. Put the new plug in the same direction as the one you removed. Once you have inserted the plug and it snaps back into place, thread the tubing back behind both metal clips and clip those back in place. Secure the ground wire back to the cabinet. Now mount the lid switch back to the cabinet. You can do this with the lid up. Secure both screws into the lid switch. Close and open the lid to test the lid switch. You should hear a clicking sound. Now its time to put the cabinet back on.
Standing in front of the cabinet, tilt it forward towards you and line it up with the base frame. Tuck the front bottom lip on the cabinet under the lip of the base. Make sure that the tabs sticking up from the base lines up with the bottom of the cabinet. Be patient, may take you awhile to get the cabinet back in position.
Slide the back panel forward back in place. make sure it tucks into the back of the cabinet. Once its in place, now you can reinstall the two metal clips that secure the back panel to the cabinet. reconnect the harness to the lid switch. Tilt the console back down into place inserting the tabs on the side into place on the cabinet. Once in place slide the console backwards into place. You can now put the 2 screws back that hold the console to the cabinet.
That should do it. Plug the washer back in and start using.

I have a Whirlpool Gold Ultimate Care II washer (MOD# GSQ9669LW0) The washer stopped, was full of water and will not restart on any cycle or settings.

This problem sounds like a broken lid switch. Power to the drive motor is routed to the lid switch and if the lid switch fails, the machine will fail work on any cycle. Verify this by bypassing the lid switch.

Disconnect power to the washer then remove the screws securing the console to the rear of the cabinet.
5b58821.jpg

Pull forward and up on the console and lay it back on the hinges.
e5a5ab8.jpg

Disconnect the lid switch harness connector by pressing on the tab located in the middle and pulling it up.
9698f29.jpg

Jump a wire between the outer terminals of the disconnected connector from the top of the cabinet then reconnect power. The problem is indeed the lid switch if the machine starts. Check the lid switch plunger and the lid switch attachment to the cabinet. It may not activate properly if the mounting is loose, re-tighten it. Replace the lid switch if the plunger is intact and and if it is mounted tightly and properly.

The cabinet is attached to the rear of the washer by two brass-colored retaining clips. Insert a flat blade screwdriver into the turned-up edge of the clip, located on both sides, and then pry back to release the clip from the slot in the cabinet.

Open and hold the lid while grabbing the cabinet front opening then tilt the top of the cabinet toward you by pulling the cabinet away from the base. This releases the front and back slots of the cabinet from the tabs in the front and back of the base.

The washing machine (Kenmore 80 Series) runs but doesn';t drain at the end or spin. We think it's a lid switch perhaps? Where is it located though and do you possibly have maybe a diagram to look at? Thank...

This is a clear evidence of a broken lid switch. Power to the drive motor is routed through the lid switch during the drain/spin cycle. The machine, therefore, cannot drain and spin when the lid switch is not working. The drain pump doesn't work because it is directly coupled to the rear spline of the motor. Replace the lid switch to address the problem.

The washer filled up with water but wont turn on

This is a clear evidence of a broken lid switch. Power to the drive motor is routed through the lid switch. The machine, therefore, will not turn on when the lid switch is not working. Manually activate the lid switch and if still doesn't work, bypass the lid switch. Disconnect power then jump a wire between the outer terminals of the disconnected connector from the cabinet top then reconnect power. Replace the lid switch to address the problem if the machine works with the lid switch bypassed.

Release the console from the top of the cabinet depending on the model of your machine then pull forward and up on the console and lay it back on the hinges.

I need to repair my washing machine Model KAWE577BWH1

To remove the cabinet safely, the washing machine should be turned off and unplugged. Next take out the control panel by removing the screws. Also take out the spring clips which are situated in the corners and after doing that remove the harness that is connected to the lid switch wiring. Pull the lid and also keep a hand on the cabinet opening that shows itself when you open the lid. Furthermore adjust the cabinets position and then pull the lid and the cabinet opening. It should be removed now.

Remove 2 screws that hold the console in place. Most are at the rear corners of the console. Pull console forward and up and tilt back. There are 2 brass clips holding the cabinet in place. then the cabinet can be removed by tilting forward and away from base. there is no reason to remove the lid.
