Question about Canon XL1S Mini DV Digital Camcorder
During recording and playback, "Remove the cassette" error message comes up on LCD screen. At this point you must remove the DV tape and reinsert tape. I have changed tapes and ran the head cleaner through several times, but the message keeps returning at varying intervals. Sometimes I can record for up to 20-25 minutes, sometimes just a few minutes. This seems to happen once you get about a third of the way through a new tape.
I only got the problem when the tape was bad. Usually the ribbon got folded, or was very wrinkly looking. Eventually I found out the drive was bad, and had to have it replaced.
