Unit shut off and E5 appears - Heating & Cooling

I had the same issue, called customer service and they directed to do a "hard reset" turn unit off and unplug, drain the water and then hold the power button down for 5 seconds. Restart as normal

E5 is the fault code for Compressor overheat/malfunction it coulb be caused by the exhaust hose being too long or kinked, remove the exhaust hose and run the unit for an hour and see if your problem goes away, if so re-route the exhaust hose, if not you need to contact the manufacture

e-5 means that the unit is 10 degrees warmer then setpoint. If you just close everything up and let it run the e5 should disappear when it gets within the temperature.

I need to check my codes to be positive. And I'll check them this weekend. But, I believe E5 is from excess water in the unit, and so it won't go into rinse and add more water.

First and most common -- the drain hose, at the back of the unit is kinked. The unit gets pushed back against the wall and kinks the line.

Second, your probes are dirty. The ones in the back right corner detect water level. Clean them with a green scrungee even if they look clean.
