First thing to try (and I'm assuming you're attempting to print a photo within HP Image Zone & have already selected the 4x6 photo tray? Hint: can be done via printer, properties, printing shortcuts) is to change the 'more options' directly below where you'd selected the 4x6 image size and then change to 'shrink to fit' vs. the default 'crop to fit'... Additional thoughts includes rotating the image (can be done directly on the preview screen...)
I fixed the problem by eliminating possibilities. The problem is with the default setting on iPhoto which I use to edit photos before copying to a USB then printing. I need to change the default setting constraint to 4x6. The problem is not with the camera. Camera is great! Thanks.
Set the default printer driver settings to print 10 x 15 cm (4 x 6 inch) photos
Make sure 10 x 15 cm (4 x 6 inch) photo paper is loaded into the photo tray.
The Photo Tray light on the printer does not have to be lit when printing from a computer.
Click Start and then click Control Panel .
Click Printers and Faxes .
Right-click the icon for the HP Photosmart 8200 Series and select Printing Preferences .
On the Paper/Quality tab, select 4x6 or 4x6 with tab from the Size is drop-down menu (under Paper Options).
Make sure that the Source is box is set to Photo tray .
Click the Borderless Printing box if borderless prints are desired.
Click Apply and then click OK .
Open the software program you wish to use and set up the pictures you want to print. Make sure to select a 4x6 inch layout for the photos within the software program before you print from the software program.
Using iPhoto to create borderless prints
To use iPhoto to create borderless prints, please follow all of the steps below:
While logged in as an Administrator, install the latest Canon printer drivers onto your computer (with Mac OS X v10.2 or later as the operating system) and select the appropriate printer as the default.
From iPhoto, select and open the image you wish to print. (Please refer to the Apple web site for instructions on how to use iPhoto.)
When you are ready to make a print, select from the Menu Bar 'File: Page Setup'.
The Page Setup dialog will appear.
Select the following settings:
Settings: Page Attribute
Format for: <Select the Canon printer you wish to use>
Paper Size: 4x6 (borderless)
Orientation: <Select the matching orientation>
Scale: <Select the appropriate scale>
Select 'OK' and the Page Setup dialog will close.
From iPhoto, from within the Constrain section of the browser window, select from the pull-down menu (i.e., the button directly above the Constrain label) either '4x6' or '4x6 Portrait'. Then, using your mouse cursor, mouse-over the image and when the Cross-Hairs are over the upper left-hand corner of the portion of the image you wish to print, click and drag from the left to the right in a downwardly diagonal motion, releasing the click at the end of the image selection.
Click the 'Crop' button.
From the Menu Bar, select 'File: Print', select your options, then select 'Print'.
This selection, revealed in the iPhoto window will now print as a borderless, 4x6 print.

You have to push in the photo tray~. Push until you hear it click...then it will print from the print tray and in turn, you will be able to print photos unto your glossy photo paper instead of the letter size paper.
