Xbox 360 error E68 is:
Hard Drive Error - Hard drive not DMA configured: It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it. Also this can be caused by a problem with the fans that make them draw too much power, it can also be caused if you have unnecessary accessories attached to the console like an external fan unit. Attempt to remove unnecessary accessories first, and then necessary components such as the hard drive and ANY USB devices. If you have any case mods you may want to investigate those as well...

System error E68 comes onto the screan when we switch our xbox on. The box then flahes red on the power button on the xbox.

E68 is a system error that usually results from a hardware failure.
You can try removing the hard drive and applying the latest XBOX live update. If you have a slow connection, you can apply the update manually by going to this address
If this doesn't work, you will most likely have to send it in to Microsoft to be serviced.

The e68 error can mean a bunch of different things on an Xbox 360.

I have personally had this error and I had to turn the unit off, unplug it, disconnect the HDD, reconnect the HDD, plug it back in and power it on.

Fixed it like a champ.

Here's some useful websites that contain information on the e68 error:

What is E68 and how do i fix it? when i switched on my xbox 360 a red light appeared in the bottom left of the power switch and a system error appeared on the screen with E 68 what is this and how do...

The E68 error means that your hard drive is either broken or not connected propperly. Turn the xbox off and take out your hard drive and put it back in. When you put it back in make sure that you hear it click at the back of the xbox. then turn it on. if it still doesent work your hdd is ruined and youll have to get microsoft to fix it.

On my xbox360 i got the e68 error message and i took the hard drive out, and then put it back once the xbox was on and i went to memory on the system settings and for my main profile it said corrupted...

can you still access anything else that was saved on your hard drive?
such as demos or anything else you downloaded, etc? generally that means your hard drive has over heated, or worse, crashed. but! you got lucky that your whole xbox didn't crash with it. there is a chance you can save your hard drive and all your files. there is a how to here:
