Question about Dryers

My dryer rumbles when it is spinning. But it also

My dryer rumbles when it is spinning. But it also does not spin at times either. There is heat and when the tumbler does spin the clothes come out very dry so heating is not a problem. I'm just wondering why it does not spin at times and then when it does it makes a rumbling sound? It is a White Westing House dryer.

The drum support rollers are worn. This will cause loose belt tension and a rumbling sound. You will need to pull the drum to find the rollers at the lower back of the drum. Check the roller shafts for wear and replace them at the same time as the rollers if needed. Check the belt and tensioner for wear before reassembly. This should fix ya...

Dryer drum rumbles

Rumbling can be caused by worn drum rollers. Poor heating can be caused by a defective heating element (if electric) or defective burner control (if gas).

Ok you have a simple solution to repair your dryer if handy with simple tools. First purchase a belt for the drum and a roller for the belt tensioner. Sears will sell this in a kit form at any Sears store. The top of the dryer will have to come off then the front panel. The front section of the top will be needed to pry upward to remove upon when you remove the rear brackets on the back of the dryers top section. After removing the top, unplug all electrical connections. all should be diffenerent in shapes and sizes which is helpful to you.
The front panel may have screws on the sides that have to be removed.
Some models has a small secondary lower panel that simply pushes down and pulls out for removal
Now that the dryers drum is exposed you need to pull the straight drum out.
Now you will see the tensioner with the roller attached. The roiller you have on your will probably has a frozen bearing and a flat spot on the roller that causes the thumping noise when spinning. The belt has been stretched by the roller being uneven so long making the drum to stop when using you dryer.
Install the tensioner and weave the belt in through the tensioner and wrap it around the drums backside with a helper helping you
With some help you can slip it back in and reassemble this dryer.

Sounds like your motor may be shot. Or possibly one of the pully's bearings are seized and is causing so much resistance the motor is unable to overcome it.

Grinding Noise

Hi,

Check for drum bearing failure if your washing machine is noisy on the spin cycle. Drum bearing failure is common when the bearing seals start allowing water to enter. You can take the belt off and spin the drum by hand, and if the drum rumbles, replace the bearings.

Hope this helps.

God Bless.

Hi, my GE model DBXR463ED1WW dryer is LOUD!

Roaring could be an over firing burner or fan related. Squeak or rumbles are bearings. Is the noise all the time or only when the burner is on? Eric
