Trip.Lite Internet Office UPS 350U Problems

Tripp.lite Internet Office UPS 350U wont exit charge only mode and further more since a brown out this morning the battery back up outlets dont seem to be recieveing power. I dont know how long it has been in 'Charge Only' mode. Any thoughts on if the ups is dead of if it has a chance of recovery.

Only about 6months.. I finally got it out of 'Charge Only' mode by unpluging for a few mins, plugging it back in and allowing it to charge with nothing pluged in overnight. Howver, the battery backup outlets dont work still, only the surge protected outlets. I think you are on the right track that it is the battery but it just doesnt seem old enough. I thought Tripp.lite was a decent brand to go with.

Tripp-lite Internet Office UPI 350U series has red light flashing by "Overload/Check Battery." What should I do. Thanks

The power rating of the equipment that is plugged into the battery-supported outlets must not exceed the UPS capacity. To make sure it doesn't, add together the power rating for each piece of equipment and compare the total requirements to the capacity of the unit, which is listed a) on the bottom of the UPS, or b) on the Specification tab on Tripp Lite's product page. If the total power draw of the connected equipment exceeds the capacity of the UPS, the load MUST be reduced for the UPS to perform properly.

If this is NOT the case, disconnect the unit from the wall outlet and check the battery voltage- it may be at its end-of-life cycle. It may not be holding the charge or not take a charge anymore.

What is building wireing fault

The UPS is sensing either a lost ground... or a swapped hot-neutral connection.I wouldn't think the UPS is that smart to sense an open Neutral..
make sure you have a good 3 wire connection going to the UPS...

Only one side of the outlets work...

From the User Manual:

“OVERLOAD/CHECK BATTERY” LED: this red LED lights continuously after a self-test to
indicate the capacity of the battery-supported outlets has been exceeded. To clear the overload, unplug some of your equipment from the battery-supported outlets; then use the ON/OFF/TEST button to run a Self-Test. If the UPS continues to detect an overload, remove more equipment and repeat the self test until successful.

CAUTION! Any overload that is not corrected by the user immediately following a self-test may cause the UPS to shut down and cease supplying output power in the event of a blackout or brownout.

The LED flashes to indicate the battery needs to be recharged or replaced. If the LED flashes (and a continuous alarm sounds) during a prolonged blackout or brownout, the UPS’s batteries are nearly out of power; you should save files and shut down your equipment immediately.

If the LED flashes following a UPS self-test (after the UPS is turned ON), it may indicate that the battery needs to be replaced. Allow the UPS to recharge continuously for 12 hours; then use the ON/OFF/TEST button to run a Self Test.

If the LED continues to flash, contact Tripp Lite for service. Should your UPS require battery replacement, visit Tripp Lite on the web at to locate the specific replacement battery for your UPS.

Hope this helps!
