Is oil pressure good? Check it when it shuts down.

Most of these have a switch that kills it if pressure drops. At operating temp the pressure may drop.

My rs 125 runs fine for a min then looses power and gradually gains it back, when i got home i noticed spots of black oil down at my foot pegs, is this a sign of needing a re build?

Hi, Adam you may have squeaked your top end this is commonly known as "HEAT SEIZE" the piston heats up expands and becomes extremely tight in the cylinder bore and usually occurs mainly on 2 cycle engines right after a fresh top end rebuild, but it can also happen to brand new motorcycles, these are rare instances due to better quality control and education. Overheating failures that cause pistons to seize are many and each one should be carefully diagnosed to prevent future repeat offenders and the usual suspects are:
1. Loose fasteners causing intake or base gaskets to leak or crankshaft seal failure caused by age, overheating, or walking.
2. Improper assembly of reed valve gaskets.
3. Improper oil/fuel premix ratio.
4. Broken, pinched, or cracked fuel line.
5. Carburetor fuel passages clogged or restricted from stale fuel varnish, ethanol sludge, dirt, rust, or fuel level in float bowl too low.
6. Main jet size too small.
7. Air filter improperly installed, missing or not sealing.
8. Faulty or improperly adjusted oil pump and or cable.
9. Failure to bleed oil pump after running oil tank dry, rebuild of pump or replacement
10. Among the causes of lack of cylinder, lubrication is clogging of lubricator by dirt or waste, obstruction in oil pipes/lines, leaky check valves, leaky pump packing, broken oil pipe/line, oil too cold to feed.
11. Wrong type of oil used in premix or oil tank
12. Improper spark plug heat range (too hot) and or gap.
13. Ignition timing retarded, faulty CDI.
14. Excessive engine load, brakes dragging, clutch slipping, transmission lubricant level too low or viscosity to high.
15. Engine coolant level too low, too old, or improper mixture ratio.
16. Engine coolant pump failure, damage, or passages restricted.
17. Radiator clogged, fins damaged, or faulty cap.
18. Failure to follow proper break in procedures.

I have a Laser 30 oil heater . I did a cleaning and changed the fuel filter and cleaned the screen and wiped it out . I re-programed the time clock and the temperature as we had numerous power outages...

A host of problems develop on these heaters by draining fuel to supply the heater from the tank bottom. Use the bottom tank port to pull off moisture occasionally and get equipped with a top mount duplex tank bushing. Plug one of the 2 ports on the bushing, feed 3/8" soft copper tube into the brass adapter until copper touches bottom of tank;(you'll need to hand straighten it as it goes in), scribe a sharpie mark on the copper for a reference point and pull the tube back out 2-3 inches. Now your fuel supply is above any reasonable moisture accumulation in the tank. Bend tube gently and route to your heater. Don't think your heater impulse pump will **** from the tank, you have to prime it by sucking and it will work by siphon to feed your heater forever if the tank doesn't run out of fuel. Don't forget a good inline filter isolated with valve each side. Ideally this should be placed lower than the lowest expect fuel level in the tank.Best of good luck to you. jeffpeck22@hotmail.com

I have an 1996 f250 powerstroke and it is running rough.

The most common problem is a bad fuel injector but if you haven't already done so--check to make sure your oil level is all the way up to full.Power Strokes use a high pressure oil pump to operate their injectors and if your oil is at a low level it can cause air pockets in the lines going to the injectors. It's not a real common problem but I 've seen it happen maybe 10 times.Another cause is using the wrong kind of oil. Some oils have a tendency to foam at high pressures and can produce air in those same injector supply lines. Good luck!

Long rest

OK, this is what the StreerRodders face all the time.

1) Pull all the plugs and get new ones ready.
2) Drain the Oil and replace with 10W-30 with new filter
3) Check the water level in the radiator - make sure up to level
4) Put several ounces of sea-foam down each cylinder
5) Hand crank engine over several times
6) Use starter motor to spin over motor several more times
7) Put Spark Plugs back in.
8) Make sure fuel in fuel tank is drained
9) Add new premium fuel - Use an air hose to clean the fuel line to the engine
10) Pump through new fuel by loosening the fuel line by engine and pumping a bunch through - hook back up tight.
11) Try starting engine -
12) If Carb engine use a bunch of carb cleaner in the carb before starting to clean out most or junk
13) Once engine is started monitor oil pressure and temperatures carefully - run for about 10 minutes
14) Stop
15) Drain Oil - replace filter again - put in new synthetic oil - recommend Amsoil 0-30W
16) Drain radiator and flush out -
17) Reset radiator fluid and top off.
18) check for leaks everywhere
19) Start again and drive carefully for 100 miles and you should be good to go.
