Hotpoint WMA30P Last night my washing machine stop mid wash and tripped the electric. I have changed the fuse and it is not that. Someone has told me that it could be the filter and that I should check it, but I cant find the filter. Any ideas where it is? Thanks

First empty the machine by lowering the hose at the rear to ground level into a container. Take off the white plastic cover on rear at bottom. You will see black rubber hose connected to barrel of machine in right hand corner. Undo the silver screw on the band securing the hose. (Biggest band). You can now pull the hose down to reveal a "table tennis like" ball. Lift it out carefully and you will probably find an obstruction like a coin or similar. I found a hairgrip but it was enough to stop the ball functioning. DO NOT TAKE OFF THE WHITE HOSE CLIPS
Comment by pulmicort, posted on Feb 02, 2008 Further to my comments re clearing scrap from table tennis ball after code F4. Machine started ok but then F5 came up. Had to take the pump off and apart to reveal broken hairclip actually seized in pump. If you are handy at all this is simplicity itself.
Slide pump to left and lift and it comes clear. Take off 2 black hoses only where connected to main machine. Pull off electrical connection. Pump and hoses lift out easily. 3 screws open the pump. Clean any obstruction and reassemble. A thirty minute operation.

if you're looking for the lint filter, it's at the bottom where the door closes.

Hotpoint Aquarius WD63 door won't open

on some hotpoint models you can remove the front kickplate and on there will be a yellow or green plastic pull toggle, pull this and it will bypass your door lock, if your appliance does not have this then you will need to unplug and leave unplugged for 10-15 mins to reset the door lock, you will however more than likely need a new door lock

Washing machine tripping everything in the house

Washing machines take out ring main fuses if there are faults in the machine:

washers heater unit
motor
or suppressor.

Also water may have breached a seal somewhere and cause a short inside the electrical compartments.

To fix a fusing washing machine you have to use a diagnostic electrical meter that puts high voltage across the appliance - Not something I can offer more info on. So whatever has happened (and in the interest of safety) you would probably want a qualified proffessional to take a look or as a last resort a hotpoint engineer!

No power to washing machine

If this machine is totally dead and it tripped your home electrics - (which is probably a 30amp fuse) means that it is likely a serious fault in the machine. :-(

Washing machines take out ring main fuses if there are faults in the washers heater unit, motor or suppressor. Also water may have breached a seal somewhere and cause a short inside the electrical compartments. The flash you saw was probably some sensitive electronics and any smaller internal fuse popping. It is possible that simply replacing internal fuse will result in doing more damage once power is restored.
