Just show a hot air blower on your keyboard from a safe distance. It would be fine.

My charger become very hot

That is normal. Its not a malfunction, that is how all chargers are. For that reason you should buy a cooling pad for your laptop which i'm sure becomes hot too, many times

If you have to ask "how", I recommend that you STOP, and take the computer to a qualified technician, to have the work done safely & correctly.

Shift key not working

You have 2 Shift keys on the keyboard. If the other shift key is working then the shift key that is not working is defective. You should consider replacing the keyboard on your laptop. There is no setting on Windows that can disable the shift key.

**Note : If both Shift keys are not working, Try to check if sticky keys feature on windows is on. Sticky keys should be disabled. To disable sticky keys, Click on start and Go into control panel > Accessibility Options, and under keyboard there is sticky keys. Remove the tick and click apply and OK.

**If "Use Sticky Keys" is unchecked, that means sticky keys is disabled.

Dropped soda in my acer keyboard-did not seem to harm electronics, but keys are starting to stick . I turned it upside down right away. computer seems to work ok- other than sticky keys

Hi,

Get a clean, damp, warm and soapy dish cloth or face flannel. Gently wipe the keys that are effected, keep on doing this until the keys become loose and not too sticky.

Regards.

My DV series has Quick Launch buttons with volume control. From the "Notebook Tour" Manual for the CQ61 series HERE it looks like FN and + or - key on number pad serves that function.

My laptop

I'll start by telling you that most of the time keyboards don't recover from a spill. With that said, clean it by using a 50/50 rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle. Remove the keyboard from the machine, and spray the alcohol into the keyboard generously. Shake out the excess or blow it out with air, then use paper towels to daub up the rest. Repeat this process two or three times, then let the keyboard dry for a good 24 hours. While you have the keyboard off check for any juice or sticky areas in the machine, and clean them with the alcohol and Q-tips. Let this dry well also. After drying put the keyboard back on and try it. If you notice any sticky keys after using it for a while, then take the sticky keys off and clean them individually with the alcohol and Q-tips.

Keyboard repair

You should call Acer tech support and enquire about a keyboard. I am sure that they will tell you to take the computer to their rep for your area. Normaly they change the keyboard when there is a fault. If the circuit board under the keys is defective or if one of the IC's on the board failed, this would not be servicable at all. The keyboards on these computers were not really designed to be able to be serviced.
