Question about HP Color LaserJet 3500 Printer
We have set the printer up as wireless but when we switch the printer on the wireless light flashes instead of solid blue. We send something to print and the computer says it is 'finding printer'. Either nothing happens and eventually the print job just disappears but occasionally the document does print but it can be hours later. The fact that it prints at all shows that it has been set up as wireless to some extent and when it does print the wireless light is solid blue but, for example, we have now left the printer on for 2 hours and the light is still flashing. Our router is downstairs and only 4 feet away from the printer and we can connect to the router on our laptop from upstairs.
We are using an iMac to connect to the printer but also have a dell laptop which we would like to connect once it's working.

check the ports first.. make sure that the printer is set as default ( make sure it has the green tick and the status "ready" or "online" on the printer icon in the printers&faxes. and if u want to connect it wirelessly, you have to install it as usb first before changing to wireless........

if printing from 2 other computer works fine, will i think its not an issue of IP address which changes somehow. but anyways, try to check if you still have other printer drivers under "PRINTERS" (see control panel). it should say HP Photosmart c6100 series. If you also have there a printer icon that says HP Photosmart c6100 series Copy1, try using it (right click on that icon and choose Set as Default Printer). If you only have HP Photosmart c6100 series under PRINTERS, try to right click, then choose properties. When Properties box is open, click on PORTS tab. then click on configure ports below. Try to type in the IP address of the printer under "Printer Name or Host name or IP address". make sure that you already printed network configuration page to get the exact ip address of the printer, Dont know how to print? do this.
PRINTING NETWORK CONFIGURATION PAGE
1. press setup, then scroll down and look for Network.
2. press okay on network, it will give you the first option "VIew network settings".
3. press okay on it, and it will give you the first option "Print network configuration page."
4. choose that and press okay. it will print the network config page. from this document, you will be able to see the IP address of the printer.

I've not worked with one of these cables before, but here's what I would do: Right-click on the printer icon and go to properties. You'll be looking for the tab that says "ports." Open that tab and see what port the computer thinks it's using for the printer. Chances it says it's using a parallel port, but it is in fact, using a USB port. I can't tell you which to choose without looking at what you see, but I think you might find one that makes reference to a USB port with a parallel connection of some type. Try clicking on that and see if your situation improves.
