Question about Gateway FPD2185W 21 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

Can anyone please tell me where to get an on/off Sw for my Gateway Mod # 2100 Ser # MQ17250N00391, HD LCD monitor? It's a simple on/off push button SW. Gateway has been so KIND refusing to sell me the SW. OR...would a technician help me correctly bypass the SW by jumping the needed 4 wires at the SW plug lead to the monitor so I won't need the SW anymore? There are only 4 small wires so it can't be all that hard! I just need to know which wires to jump correctly. The colors are: yellow - brown - green - black Or they are yellow - black - green - black. Hard to see they are so small. I realize the monitor will forever be constantly on, NO PROBLEM. Thanks so much. Tom

I have a Gateway HD Monitor Model 2100. The screen flickers and turns off. I can cycles the button and it comes back on, only to flicker and turn off later.

Either you have a problem with the back light or inverter.
When you disconnect the unit from its signal connection, you should see no signal input message.
If the unit flickers and then go out, while disconnected, you can rule out the video card and assume it is the back lights or inverter.
90% of the time, it is the back lights.

This could be due to a bad power supply inside the monitor witch is replaceable for like $25 bucks all you got to do is unscrew off the back undo a few cables and put in the new supply.

I hope this helps you in the repaire process if its under warrenty please seek warrenty guidlines.

Gateway FPD1975W black 19 inch LCD

most likely is the power supply in the monitor.
gateway LCD has a building power supply in the monitor. it supplies 38W to the lamp.
since there is no display, it tells me that there is no power to the monitor.
if try another monitor and it works fine. then the problem is the monitor. (dispaly lamp is good for 17 Years- according to the tech spec.) but the power supply is pushing too much power.
other vendors max power is apporximately 30W.

make sure there is nothing behind the monitor and has good air flow. Since there is no fan in the unit. it need to vent the hot air natually.
